Has anyone suggested an Idle Relearn? My LQ1 Cutlass was the only W i've ever had to do an Idle relearn on cause it was idling high.

sorry guys i had to go to take part1 of my GED test last night!!! well i figured out what it was!!! its one of my hoses i believe its called the pvc or pcv hose it had a hole in it which is what causings my idleing issues

LIM gasket is what, a 45minute to 1 hour job?

 

Yep...And I only charged the previous owner of my car $30 when I did them...

Man, do it yourself... the LIM is pretty easy on an LQ1, and your looking at $20 for felpro gaskets + an hour or so of your time.

and risk fuckin my car up even worse!!!! Im a fly by night mechanic theres only so much i can do!!!! plus it was already at the garage being worked on

If you had a 3.1, I'd agree with you, as it a much more complicated job. On the 3.4, it is MUCH easier, but hey, whats done is done. Just don't be afraid of it next time :wink:

I love the LIM gaskets on the 3.4. SO simple to do its unbelieveable. I have to do the ones on the wifes Euro 3.1 soon though. Its got some seepage. On those you have to remove a couple pushrods, right?

I have absolutely no maintenance records for my car but it's getting close to 120,000 miles and I have a feeling that it hasn't been done yet... should I get around to it soon? If it is that easy of a job maybe I'll do it myself as preventative maintenance.

it;'s it's not a 3100/3400 sfi, and it isn't giving you any trouble... i'd probably leave it alone.

I don't know why everyone says the LIM is so easy. Between the heater hose and the stupid coupler that breaks on the intake manifold for $250 I'll pay a shop to do it.

Honestly the Intake gaskets are insanely easy on a 3.4.

 

Zack. I can't say I feel all that sorry for you on the matter, I have told you countless times that I am MORE then willing to help you out with that car. That job should cost no more then $50 in parts at MOST. Hell If you woulda covered my gas and parts I'd of done it for you no problem. And I don't live that far from you.

It's not that hard to pull the plenum after you've done it a few times. It's just a bitch to get my pliers down there to get that heater hose off. Plus, I always forget to put it back on when I finish and end up with coolant everywhere. :lol:
