xxXRandyyXxx Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 O.K I have an 89' cutlass supreme inter 2.8, and the pipes and muffler are shot to shit, it sounds terrible, and my dad owns a trucking company and he parks his trucks at a junk yard (bare with me). And the other day I happened to see someone drop off a 90' grand prix, so I figured, hell maybe the pipes might fit. I planed on buying a new muffler anyway. So do you think the pipes from a 90' grand prix will fit a 89' cutlass? thanks 8) Quote
Lee Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 I have a 91 Regal but I'm gonna say YEP. They're all interchangeable. Your biggest problem is going to be that the exhaust is....most likely.....routed up through the suspension. You'll have to cut the pipe somewhere in front of the suspension to wiggle it out. You'd be much happier with an exhaust from a newer model that runs the pipes below the suspension. Though maybe the earlier duals DID run under the suspension. My 91 now runs under the suspension then split to duals. Quote
xxXRandyyXxx Posted August 12, 2003 Author Report Posted August 12, 2003 i'm not sure about the grand prix but with my cutlass it runs up, the grandprix is semi buried so i am gonna have to get the loader to pull it out (guys that own the junkyard are idiots) Quote
Brian P Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 If it's a sure-as-shit 1990 then the exhaust runs over the suspension. If you dont need the pipe from the catalyst to the right muffler, then cut the 90 pipe about 4 inches from the RH muffler and clamp it to your existing pipe (cut yours in the same spot) otherwise get 91+ exhaust system Quote
Lee Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 I'm pretty sure that they routed the single exhausts up through the suspension until the 94 year. That's when you start seeing those big black mufflers hanging low below the bumper instead of tucked up under with the little S-pipe tip. Quote
Brian P Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Yeah, except I was referring to dual exhaust Quote
