AL Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 When I start up my 91 5 speed, it literally vibrates the whole car for a bit until it gets warm... Then it idles at 1100 or so and just purrs... Any ideas why it would do that on cold starts? For some reason I'm thinkin its MAF sensor. Quote
GP1138 Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 That or possibly bad O2 or Coolant Temp sensor? Quote
grandprixnyc Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Welcome to the my old LQ1 club. Mine does that in the winter, but not on "cold" starts in the warm months. Quote

spiderw31 Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 nvr mnd... engine doesnt run rough anymore... it just doesnt run... it seems extremely hard to turn over, if it turns over Ouch! Done any troubleshooting on it yet? Nice update! Man, you're evil... although it was funny! Quote
AL Posted September 11, 2008 Author Report Posted September 11, 2008 im gonna jump it tomorrow to see if its just the battery having too low of voltage... with 177k on it, it could also be a fuel problem... what else would cause it to turn over really slow? Quote
spiderw31 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 It depends on why it is cranking slowly. Either the starter is working hard against to much load, or it isn't getting enough power. Well, that and the starter itself could be dying, but thats a different thing altogether; you'd likely have noticed odd behavior from the starter before if that was the case. I think your idea of trying to jump the car would be the right place to start. Make sure that the battery is providing enough power, and make sure the power is getting to the starter (solid connections and good wiring), and go from there. Quote
rockfangd Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 another thing t o check is to make sure you dont have A seizing pulley by releasing belt tension and manually spinning the pulleys, Just a thought Quote
