9lumina6
I want to paint them black.......but i also want to keep the polished lips the way they are....problem is...... i cannot find 1 kind of tape that will stick to the polished lips to tape them off.....Tried masking, the blue painters tape, and even duck tape.....none of wich will stick to the polished lip (its like expecting a plain piece of paper to stick to it). Does anyone have any suggestions about what might stick to the polished lip???
jeremy
i never had a problem with either masking or the blue painting tape ....did you clean and dry the surface?

mra32
i used blue painters tape on my polished lips and it sure was annoying getting it all off. I really couldn't imagine why youre having trouble with that. What are you cleaning with? Maybe try windex or, a solvent somethng that should leave the surface "squeaky"

Didnt have any trouble getting it off...(I actually have 1 of the rims done....im gunn a go out and take a pic in a lil bit.
mra32
nice, what color are you painting them? I was thinking about painting these earlier today when i was trying to photoshop those wheels onto my car. I failed. I'll try with yr pics once you post them, if thats ok
slick
Yeah, you need to use something that will take off all protectants/solvents to prep it will. Otherwise, blue painters tape should be perfect.

jeremy
that paint scheme makes the rims look REALLY small.
9lumina6
that paint scheme makes the rims look REALLY small. Yeahh.......i definately noticed that......especially when i put them on the car..... ....but w/e, cant go back now. I actually like how they look.....but the fact that they look like 15'' rims now insted of 16''...kinda bothers me. Maybe I'll put some 225/55s on there. Cully77
Yeah I picked up a set of those wheels with winter tires on them and I've been trying to decide if I want to do anything to them. Trying to decide if I want to paint them gunmetal with polished lip, or just paint that interior lip black and change nothing else (as in the farthest out part of the wheel you painted, not the spokes) and again leave the lip polished. Yeah.... I just wanted to play around and try this to see what it looks like....Doesnt look too bad. I'll know later tonite after i get the last 2 on the car after they dry.....and can see what all 4 look like together. These are the origonal rims on the car, so they have 160K miles on em, and they were scratched a little here and there.... and needed attension. I'll probably just end up runnen these on there for the winter.... and wichever of my 2 sets of GTP rims i have for that, that i dont put on the GTP... ill find a way to put on the Z-34 for the summer.
