slick Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 The glovebox lock/latch assembly was pretty chipped up. Realizing it is metal, I sanded it down, and put some clear on it. Myself, I'm pretty sure it will be going back to the stock color, however this was just a middle phase, I guess. Before: After: Quote
slick Posted September 6, 2008 Author Report Posted September 6, 2008 And, if I did leave it in the brushed metal look, I would need to sand it with much finer grit paper. At the time, all I had available was 800. Quote
GP1138 Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 That looks kind of cool! That being said, it does look a little funny on a grey dashboard. I'd see about painting it black. Quote
slick Posted September 6, 2008 Author Report Posted September 6, 2008 Yeah, if I decide that I hate it, it will be either charcoal/graphite or black. Quote
5speedz34 Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Looks too modern to be in a '90 car! I can't say if I like it or if I don't I'd have to see it in person. Quote
jeremy Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 it looks really damn good....haven't made up my mind if it "works" with the rest of the interior or not yet though Quote
Venom Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 I like it. I wonder how much of a bitch it will be to keep clean though. Quote
pontiacmaniac94 Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 very cool man! i like it! the one thing i would be worried about is that the paint would be rubbed off from use over time..... but other than that, that is miles better than the original.. Quote

A finer grit sanding and clear-satin clear? And WULLA, a one of a kind lock. Different and darring!!! Tom Quote
IRONDOG442 Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Chis it looks really good do not paint it ! Quote
Captain Ficho Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Leave it be, I think it looks great like that. Or if you must paint it, I think a light grey would look best, something like that shouldn't be charcoal and contrast everything. Quote
GPX Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 I love it! [Wait, I just voted and I think I didn't read the question correctly and voted the wrong way. Now your poll is all screwed up! ] Quote

slick Posted September 8, 2008 Author Report Posted September 8, 2008 I'm really suprised at the Yes's that I have received. I was actually thinking it would be 90% No's, 3 Yes's, about about 2 Undecided's. I guess if I did keep it that way, then yes, it will need to be done up to about 1500-2000 grit paper. And, that would also mean that I would need to make some more aluminum interior pieces.... Quote
mfewtrail Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 It doesn't look bad, but I would probably respray it with graphite/charcoal paint. Quote

Breakdown Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 i'd leave it, looks hot! I agree, every time I see those stupid locks, I think that they look horrible. I think that you've aestically improved the look, while at the same time drawing the eyes away from the damn locks (making the hideous things stick out less). If you're going to do anything ensure that it makes it look the same colour as it is right now on our monitors. A combination lock isn't bling, it's out of place on a car's dashboard. Quote
terryk2003 Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 i like it!...i vote leave it! Quote
