Captain Ficho Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 My LQ1 powered 92 CS Intl stumbles when I try to accelerate through a hard turn, like a sharp highway on-ramp. Sometimes I take those 360 ramps that are rated at 20mph at 30-35 and if I start accelerating while coming through the curve it will stumble and buck but as soon as the car straightens out it goes perfectly. Car runs great otherwise. Just to add, it has done this since I bought it but happens rarely so I don't pay much attention to it. Not often do I take sharp curves and try to accelerate through them, but whenever I do it stumbles. For reference, the ones like the one in the top left there. If I try to take that too quickly and then accelerate the car will buck until I straighten out. Quote
95 vert Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Shit in your fuel tank? Plugged fuel pump sock? Sounds like it's pulling air thru the pump-possibly your fuel pump is loose from it's mounting and just "floating" in the tank. Quote
Andrew Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 are you low on fuel when this happens? its just likely that the fuel is sloshed to one side and not picking up well. we all know how awesome the tank baffles are in first gens! Quote
GP1138 Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 I get the same thing, when I hit a turn real hard, I get a shudder, and then when I straighten out it's just fine. Quote
Captain Ficho Posted September 5, 2008 Author Report Posted September 5, 2008 I get the same thing, when I hit a turn real hard, I get a shudder, and then when I straighten out it's just fine. Yeah, it's weird. It even happens with a full tank for me. Quote
rockfangd Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 i find there can be more probklems with that when the tank is replaced with a tank without baffles Quote
Lumineer Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 I remember back some months ago before I got my car fixed that I was having more severe problems. My car would occasionally die on turns and not start back up for a few minutes. It would just sputter and choke and such. After weeks of having people look at it and try figuring out the problem, my mom's friend (former mechanic) replaced some valve or sensor thing somewhere with new stuff and the car runs like a charm again, and I haven't had any problems with turning either (I love spinning my tires on turns).
