tdvs
Only been here 2 weeks, but I'm sure this question has been asked plenty. So here goes again. Is there some where on the sight that covers the procedure for inspecting the cam timing belt and related items on a 3.4? Have 2 CS Verts and don't want to pay a dealer $90 each if I can do it myself. Thanks, Tom
ManicMechanic
2 8mm bolts take the timing belt inspection covers off. Check for cracking of the belt, missing teeth, excessive shavings, ect.

tdvs
When I had the one cars belt inspected, mechanic said something about plastic pulleys that can wear and wabble. Can this be cheched with the inspection cover removed? Also, how do I crank the engine without it starting? What do I unplug, unhook? Thanks again, Tom
5speedz34
The plastic pulleys can wear but only if they are old or weren't replaced. You'll have to remove the whole plastic cover underneath the serpentine belt to view all the pulleys. You might be able to spin them, but I doubt it. As for turning it with out starting it, why? If you need to put a socket on the crank pulley and turn it clockwise.
tdvs
How old is old? Both are '95s, one with 135K and the other with 51K. Should the pulleys be change with the belt? How big a job? I'm an old gear head (back in the day when you could open the hood, look at the engine and also see the ground) but looking under the hood of these cars has me a little gun shy. 5speedz34
Check the belt on both, they should be replaced at 60k.
jeremy
Should the pulleys be change with the belt? I would change the pulleys at the same time
