swift13
hey guys new to the site but have been having a problem with my 95 vert and ive gotten to the point of insanity. Every morning it starts like a carburetor car meaning i have to play with the throttle and keep it going until its stable, it idles rough and engine speed fluctuates at lights and bogs in and out. i have changed the fuel pump, injectors, 02 sensor, fuel filter, plugs, wires, tps, iac and just shy of the egr and ecm im out of ideas. the p0131 code comes up on my scanner. which says 02 is lean. Anybody got any ideas?? anything would be helpful.
cutty
what year is your vert? I would say if its a 96+ that could be a MAF sensor
Andrew
you have a vacuum leak somewhere. 3.1 or 3.4 ?
Crazy K
It is a DOHC car. i see badging in his sig. You most likely have a vacuum leak... possibly from a bad intake gasket or simply a bad vacuum line.
Doc
Maybe a faulty fuel injector. I had problems with a 3.1 and it got to insanaty till i talked to a GM tech, that might be your best bet before spending any more $$$$$$$$$. Good luck. Andrew
good eye on that Ken!! try spraying some starter fluid around your vacuum lines and intake manifold while the engine is running. if the rpms go up, then you have a vac leak as your engine just sucked up some starting fluid. GP1138
If it's a DOHC his car does have a MAF after '94... I found that this was a lot different than I was used to, as I couldn't run the car with the intake detached and the MAF connected. Check your snorkel to make sure there are no obstructions and that there are no kinks in the hose.
ismellrealbad
It is a DOHC car. i see badging in his avatar. fixed def sounds like maf but if that was bad it would also set a code. check for vacuum leaks. if youre sure theres none check/change maf anyways since its still possible and its not one of the like 10 things you listed that you changed already. swift13
Thanks for all the help guys as far as ive checked before there is no vacuum leak, it is a 95 with the 3.4 as you can tell from the badging obviously(very good eye.) i will try the carb fluid and check the maf but is there any possibility on the cat being bad or anything in the exhaust that might cause this prob. as i said i am getting a code of P0131 and it says 02 sensor lean. im really tryin to avoid the shop techs cuz i dont mind spending the money as this cars title is not leaving my name for a very long time. cutty
usually when running lean the car is getting too much air into the engine. What kind of O2 sensor did you put it when you replaced it? From what i heard the bosch ones suck.
Andrew
NOT carb cleaner !! starter fluid only !! different stuff.
swift13
i meant starter fluid just easier to type "carb" and the 02 sensor brand was sng i made sure not to get bosch but unsure how good sng is either
