LuckoftheGTP
Does any one know if you can put a turbo from a '89 TGP into a 3.4L DOHC? If you can you think the engine could take the extra power?
slick
Turbo would be too small. And, 3.4's have been turbo'd already.
meltboy1
what about using the crossover and maybe upgrading to a t28, would that work on the 3.4?
GOT2B GM
No. totally different engines.
meltboy1
I know they are different engines...lol but what I didn't know is if they used the same exhaust manifolds...
GOT2B GM
not even close. You could bolt TGP exhaust manis onto a 3X00 with some porting of the manifolds.
meltboy1
ah cool, thanx for that tid bit of information
z34Phoenix
my plan has always been to block the exit on the rear manifold and run a new down pipe. and cut the Xover and mount the turbo.that way you save the money from makeing new exhaust manifolds.... sadly on the 96-97 we cant use a front manifold on the back. like the early years
ismellrealbad
the manifolds/xovers only changeover between the pushrod 60*s because the ohc heads are much different.
timg
You can always take an extra front manifold, cut the flange off, and weld on a new flange. That's what I've done for my new setup. The 3.4 DOHC can handle boost. Anything from the T2X series is too small. Many T3's are too small. A T3/T4 hybrid is going to be a better fit than a straight T3 (straight T3's are fairly difficult to find anyway). There are a lot of nice turbos in the T4 size range, but you will have more lag. The GT30R is the smallest newer turbo I would consider running. Tim
AWeb80
GT35R would be nice i've seen one on a 3.8L w/ heavily ported heads and intake. well, the 3.4 flows better stock than a 3.8 could ever wish for......so a GT35R would be good.
