SmoothSteve3
I'm workin on my 1990 3.1 Lumina, trying to replace the lower engine mount. I've successfully pulled the old one, gotten the 5 bolt mounting bracket out, and have the engine jacked up on the oil pan (with a 2x4 of course). So here's the problem: the upper studs on the engine mount wont line up with the holes on the bracket. I've gotten the bracket remounted to the engine, and the new mount is resting in its pan. Anybody dealt with this? Any clue what I should do? I guess I could just try lower the engine and hope that the studs align themselves in the holes...but I could see that going badly, and breaking even more things....I'm seriously in a state of right now. Thanks
Crazy K
I bolt the engine mount to the bracket on the engine, then lower the engine and get the bracket holes to align to the frame holes.
rockfangd
i always mount the mount to the engine loosly and then lower the engine little by little while guiding it into place on the subframe. WOrks every time. I can usually change the motor side one in 30 minutes so it shouldnt be too bad
