AxlCrucifix Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 Hey guys I bought a subscription of whatever you would call it to this place called All Data DIY, that shows all recall and service bulletins for your car, as well as all letters from GM to the dealer about these issues. I am just wondering if these bulletins/recalls are covered by the dealer or what. I tried calling, but GM and the dealers are closed, and I also wanted to know if you guys had ever seen these before. It lists a TON of common problems for your certain car, and the remedy. Now is the remedy info going to be covered by the dealer for a car so old? (an '89), or what. I mean, some of these Bulletins were posted this year, some of them even effect Grand Prix's from 1988 through to 1996. Quote
Addicted To Boost Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 PM me the 1989-1990 TGP bulletins please Quote
AxlCrucifix Posted August 6, 2008 Author Report Posted August 6, 2008 i spoke to a mechanic friend today and all the TSB's are serviceable for free by the dealer usually if it was an official TSB and not just a regular notice I know for the TGP's, there was a recall for some routing under the hood, and since its one of the giant TGP recalls, it can be found through google when searching for grand prix recalls ill scour my bulletins for any turbo related ones a giant hint my friend gave was to grab your VIN and call a local dealer and give it to them and ask to check for any outstanding TSB's that havent been done, since some cars second hand may have never been in a shop their entire life then if there is an issue with your car, look up a bulletin for it, and if it may fall under one, your problem can be fixed by a shop instead of by you Quote

TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins) are just that. It's merely a bulletin staing that this (whatever "this" happens to be) is a problem that has been encountered before and then gives you some suggestions as to a fix. For example: TSB 05-08-110-006B: Sunroff Switch Bezel Comes Loose From Headliner. Models: 05-08 A cars (Cobalts etc). Condition: Some customers may comment that the sunroof switch bezel comes loose from the headliner. Blah blah blah............... It then goes on to suggest replacing the bezel and retainer rather than the headliner. Etc...... RECALLS on the other hand.............those are free (unless they expire due to time or mileage as SOME do). Quote
