I know i dealt with a 97 LQ1 doing something like this, turned out at hard start and bogging down at high rpm fuel wasnt getting there.

17-20 start up and 17-28 on running. Books say 40-45 on that. Recommended fuel pump, they traded the car.

Should also be know car was given a full tune up as well, plugs wired, 3 coil packs all GM.

good luck hope it works out

AH MORE BAD NEWS! Well, I took it for a spin, right of the bat it sounded bad. I took it around the block and came home and popped the hood. Long story short I saw one of my brand new bosch wires grounding. It was jumping through the wire. I was like omg, wtf and turned the car off. Checked the wire and found out it has 3 small slits all in row. I was like FACK! So I just put on some electrical tape and I am returning them tomorrow. It also making a hissing noise. It sounds like its coming around the front plugs and near the exhaust manifold. I dont know, maybe im getting paranoid about it. The vid is still uploading.

what did you use when you cleaned the TB ? and did you pull the sensors or leave them in ?

I just used some brake cleaner on a rag and got my finger in there and cleaned it up.

Wow, thats really weird. I hear my fuel pump, sounds normal. It just started after my tune up. After I taped the wires, i rev'd it and it didnt bog. But I will let you know when I get back from work tomorrow.

Oh yeah the fuel pump sounded ok until i put a gauge on it and checked the pressure.

So, you used brake cleaner to clean the internal part of the engine??

No, i just used some brake cleaner on a rag to clean the throttle body.

Sounds like a bad cat to me. Especially if its making the same sound or similar sound as the vid you posted.

Well the car was sitting for about 4 months. I found mouse shit on my engine as well in my trunk. Maybe one got caught somewhere and it causing all my problems?

Not sure, but i had the exact same symptoms on a S-10 and found the cat to be clogged and only under heavy acceleration would it bog down.

It made that same sound as the vid except much louder and deeper. If you aren't in a area that needs any kind of inspection or anything you could just replace the cat with a piece of regular pipe, which would be alot cheaper that buying a new cat.

Sadly, we have the E-Test here. Is there anyways you can test it? I've heard people of banging it? I better do some googling.

Found this, some good info on it. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question482.htm

Banging on it you could try, in case the baffling inside it came loose. Not really sure of any testing for it for the clogged part, i do know that it will glow bright red if clogged and run for awhile.

Only way to test is with an exhaust backpressure guage. It screws int othe O2 sensor hole. Anything over 2-3psi is bad. The guage can spike when snapping the throttle but should fall just as fast as it spiked. I'd say 0-1psi is okay. I have no idea where you'd find a guage like this though.

However I would say the cat is fucked. unless you have an injector dumping fuel and the cat is loaded with raw fuel - in which case the cat is probably fucke danyways

I'm gonna drop the exhaust to see if it helps when I got time.
