Q-Ball
UPDATE 2: Well today I finally met up with Ryan, aka Ihateallmustangs, and we tried to troubleshoot my car. I told him I think I got a bad set of plug wires, cause one of my wires was shorting out. It was actually grounding out through the cable. So, Ryan said it might of fried the coil pack on higher rpm's. So I'm gonna try and swap it from my GTP. Which, on a side note I got running again today. yay. UPDATE: Well, I have been driving the car about 250 km a day, all highway. I've noticed a few things. The car is able to get up to speed, 120 Km/h, but I have to be gentle on the gas to do that, or it will bog. I can push it to about 3500 RPM, but it doesnt pull like it should and I smell rotten eggs. I remember I used to only smell that when it was at like 5000-6000 rpms. I also noticed my cruise control sucks. It works, but when I go up a hill, the car cant keep its speed. The rpm's dont climb or anything. Also, when I first got the car, I played with the cruise. When I upped the cruise speed, the rpm's would jump from 2000 to about 3000-3500 and get up to speed quick. Now it crawls to get any faster. Which makes me think it could be a vacuum leak? Is there anything I could of done? I did seafoam than did but doing plugs, wires, air filter, oil change, I still have to do my O2 sensor, and Tstat. Could this be from tightening to dog bones too tight? Just a thought. Orignal: Well, I've never had this happen to me before. I got my car's insurance back on the road and yesterday did a pretty good tune up on her. Brand spanking new battery, seafoamed it than I went to replace my Bosch plugs with some ac delco plugs, air filter, oil change with some Lucas oil stabilizer, oil filter, and cleaned out the TB. The only other things I want to do is grease my tie rods and ball joints, but in my 180 tstat, and to replace the starter. Anyways, fired up the car everythings fine. Take it out for a little drive to warm her up. About about driving for about 25 min or so I decided to see what she's got. I get about 3/4 down and let her rip. She picks up quick as normal but when getting up in speed you can hear the car bogging. I have no idea what would case this. The only thing was my buddy was trying to help me with the rear plugs. Has skinny arms, and we were cranking one of the plugs in the back and head a small crack. I didnt think anything of it at the time, but maybe it's loosing a higher compression from that plug? I felt around and i cant not jiggle the plug at all, so I know its not loose or anything. One other this was when we first started it, we forgot to install a plug and it sounded extemely loud like a motor cycle. I turned off the car and ran out and laughed to see we missed a plug on the front. But that was only the things we ran into. Any idea's? Q-Ball
cracked plug? spark plug wire not seated properly on the spark plug? I'll have to pull the damn thing out again. Kinda of pita with the stb, so that has to come off too. I felt the click when the wire snapped on, so I think its good. Did you gap the plugs properly? I've never done that. I couldnt even do it to my Bosch Plat 4's. I dont even have the gapping tool. Maybe something I should invest in. Good idea!
rockfangd
i dont think people realize how important gapping really is. Thats why they have them lol. It can be off alot and it will cause a problem. How do you forget to put a plug in? Where was the wire lol? Could possibly be a faulty coilpack

I've already had the coil pack replaced about 1.5 years ago. It was running fine up to this. Even after for sitting since April 25th. I took it out WOT and wasnt bad at all. Happened after the plugs. Can you stip the threads on the inside of the engine where you put your plug into? I'm a bigger guy, but in the back I dont have much leverage to tighten the plugs. my Bosch Plat 4's. x2!! For the love of god get rid of those!! Get some ACD's. Thats what he did lol That's what i get for reading a thread half alsleep. Yeah, no more bosch for me. After I put them in, about 2-3 months I did need a new coil pack. If I do need another one, can I steal it off my GTP?
White93z34
change your fuel filter?
rockfangd
yes you can. but do you mean you changed one coil pack, all 3, or the ICM??
Q-Ball
change your fuel filter? Was done last fall. yes you can. but do you mean you changed one coil pack, all 3, or the ICM?? hmm, maybe the ICM? Its the plastic rectangular piece where the spark plug wires all connect to.
1990lumina
The ICM is the metal recantuglar thing UNDER where the plugs go in. The plug go into the coil - there are actually three there. One coil runs two cylinders waste spark style
rockfangd
exactly. sounds to me like you have a weak or faulty coil pack
Q-Ball
But here's the problem. Ran fine, did the tune up, than bogs? So something cant be right. Well first what I am going to do, is replace all 3 of my rear plugs back with the bosch's. Is it bad to mix/match plugs? If it doesnt fix it, I will switch all 6 plugs back to bosch to see if it goes away. If it does, than I better get my spark plug gap tool. Actually, first thing tomorrow I will buy it, and try it to all of the plugs.
1990lumina
I would suggest NOT mixing plugs. You might as well do all 6 - the front 3 take an extra 3 mins. I doubt it's the plugs unless they are ungodly misgapped. I'd suspect a bad wire - who knows maybe one got damaged while pulling them apart. The old wires on my Lumina were taking 50,000volts to spark the plug. The new wires I put on were down to 8000volts. old wires=FUCKED
White93z34
if it only bogs at WOT, It sounds like a fuel delivery issue to me.

I got the car in 2004. I might as well just get new wires too. if it only bogs at WOT, It sounds like a fuel delivery issue to me. Here's a vid I found. Sure its Honda, but it sounds similiar. Q-Ball
Ok, I filled up the car. 52 freaking dollars! Anyways, it seems to like the newwer gas a bit better. I ran some orange/amber lights and it didnt hesitate. But even so, I went and got new wires, a spark plug depth guage, a new spark plug socket with rubber (lost my rubber doing my dads truck) a O2 sensor, and a EGR gasket. Mine was smoking through it when I seafoamed the car. I will be trying to install all this after work.

Q-Ball
damn , that is very good. nice job Yep, coming home from work today after a nice long hour drive, I came to a red light. The car rpm's were jumping from 400-600. It doesnt sound very good so a idle re learn is needed.
Q-Ball
Well, this weekend I got my new wires on, gapped the plugs. They were all off. I also topped the tranny fluid. The only thing I got left to do is the O2 sensor and the 180 tstat! I was gonna try and get it all done today, but it was raining for most of the day. Even at one point it was so bad I was holding an umbrella in one hand while working. Taking the car for a test drive later tonight.
