alphagtp
ok, so if the "timing" is bad, is the engine screwed?? o could it be "easily" fixed???
Andrew
if the timing is off, it can be fixed, but not necessarily easy. if you snapped your timing belt, you may well be screwed. why do you ask?
jeremy
ok, so if the "timing" is bad, is the engine screwed?? the engine shouldn't be messed up, just redo the timing
alphagtp
"a friend of mine" NOT!! my car is BROKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was driving pretty fast/hard (2nd gear) then when it shifted to 3rd it went/jumped into neutral and the revs when all the way up and my engine died right there, at first it would not start, but like 10-15 mins later it did start but revs went up and down and died again, and it keeps doing that, I'm just guessing is the timing, what do you think?? What I would do now is remove the cam cover and check the condition of the belt. I can't imagine it'd skip a tooth unless the belt is borked. If the belt is the problem you'll likely find half a belt.
alphagtp
well, the thing is that the car is parked at the in-laws like 20 miles away, also my other vehicle needs the fuel pump changed, so today I'm working on my DD, the GTP is not a priority right now, that is why I was asking about the timing, just to help me calm down and not get to scared about it about the GTP: it does starts/runs for like 2-3 sec then it dies, there is no smoke coming out of it, and the oil seems fine... btw this whole thing happened yesterday while I was at work(on the clock) so I just left it on the side of the highway, after work I went back and just towed it to the place, I did not look really at anything(I was mad as hell)

Ok, finally got the car home, I checked the belt and it seems fine what else could it be??? the car starts/runs for a few seconds then it dies, oil is fine, and there is no smoke at all??? AWeb80
your Timing belt looks ok? I do recall it still looking OK at the KC meet.....even for a stock belt. I dont' know what else it would be.
GP1138
Take the cover off, does the belt spin when you crank the engine? If not, it's fucked somewhere down inside.
