factory audio

Last summer, I installed a new steering wheel with SWRC, and hooked the controls to the serial bus, but had an aftermarket head unit, no way to test the controls. I drove the car like that for a year, and it was driving me nuts (if the car is equipped with something, it HAS to work!). Recently, on a j/y trip, I came across a 97 Transport that had a factory cassette deck with a slave cd player. Got the whole thing for $20 because the cd player didn't work. Took it home, cleaned the lens, works perfect! And now, my SWRC work! I replaced the rear factory 6x9s with Selennium Spectrum 6x9s (120w) because the bass put out by the factory speakers was too distorted, and will eventually replace the factory 5 1/4s in the doors with something (Pioneers, probably).

The only complaint I now have, is the factory head unit won't operate my power antenna. I'm guessing it's because the head unit came out of a mini-van.

The slave cd player is mounted in the glove compartment, if anyone is wondering! :willynilly: :high5:
