fleetwoodguy79
Well, I'm headed for Wisconsin tomorrow to put together my DOHC. Took out the passenger seat, loaded it all up. Tranny is in the passenger seat, and fluid leaked EVERYWHERE. So now I have a puddle of tranny fluid and I need new carpet! Anyone know where I can get and how much it is? Will be posting pics soon, heh, its pretty funny to see a GP filled to the brim with parts.

91GranSport
Depending on how much you want to spend, I'd start off at places like Walmart and such. If you can't find it there, then go to your local auto parts store. They should have it for you. Just remember never to purchase anything from a dealer! TGPilot
i just like how thats guys carpet is molded specifically for your car. no cutting you just plop the thing in and your done The first carpet I got from him was for a 1987 Sunbird Turbo Convertible. The convertible carpet is slightly different from the hard-top because of the confined space in the back. Fit like a glove, only had to trim where the shift lever went through to the floor to make it like the factory hole. The other was for a friend with a Grand Prix 2+2 and that also fit like a glove...no-trimming required. IMO molded carpets are the only way to go if you want it to look good... 8)
slick
JC Whitney has some stuff, it's easier to find it in there catalog, not online.
bluegp
Anyone know where I can get and how much it is? Auto Custom Carpets -- that's the one you'll see a lot in street rod & musclecar magazines. Their carpet is supposed to be just like factory -- correct material & color and premolded. (I have never ordered one myself, so I can't verify that) I believe a carpet will be around $120. Here's their site: https://www.accmats.com
phantomFE3
hmm correctly molded and colored = 120 a roll of almost correct color and a little cutting and pushing to get it to fit = 8 bucks? hmmm id go to walmart and get a couple rolls and try that before i spend 120 bucks! By all means I would like to see pictures of your $8 carpet from Wal-Mart and how it fits into the seat pans and over the center hump and then up to the fire-wall...I am sure it would look wonderful! bluegp
If you haven't already considered it, the junkyard is a good place to get one. You may get lucky and find a car with the windows still up and the same color interior. Years ago I got a black carpet for a Monte Carlo ('78 or '79) at a junkyard. After cleaning, it was almost as good as new and I think it only cost like $20. I'd go this route before resorting to cut & paste (unless it's just a winter beater or such). Brian P
the rolled carpet from wal fart is like 3 yards x 1 yard. Only way I could possibly see this looking alright is if you cut/shave the old carpet down to the rubber, then glue the new carpet on, but AAGH I get sick just thinking about all those grooves! Sailor77
Do not short change your self for a few dollars. Get the molded carpet, the fit is worth it. Not to mention you will probably get the pad with it. The crap from walmart is very thing and will not protect from heat or sound the way the molded does.
