Fmr12B Posted July 30, 2008 Author Report Posted July 30, 2008 You should have magnasteer I, which is variable effort ! Appreciate the help but the part description says: With variable assit power steering Pressure fitting of pump is equipped with an electronic sender on vehicles with variable assist. or without variable assit power steering I gather that I would need the with variable assist power steering part then Quote
IRONDOG442 Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Yes for sure, if you want it to actually work, what it does is speeds up the idle speed a little bit when the car is making turns at low speeds. Quote
ManicMechanic Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 All 1995 Olds 3.4 cars came with RPO NV8. Quote
shyguy164 Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Yes for sure, if you want it to actually work, what it does is speeds up the idle speed a little bit when the car is making turns at low speeds. In addition, the variable assist valve on the top of the pump will close down at higher speeds to provide a "stiffer" steering system. Quote

ManicMechanic Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Just found out yesterday, my cutty vert got this! Isn't your car a 1994? It wasn't an option in 1994. Quote
LuminaPower92 Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 It has some sort of electrical plug right on the bottom stud for the i-shaft, I thought poss thats what that was. also has another plug on the other end of the steering rack. Quote
ManicMechanic Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 If it had NV8, it would have a plug on the steering pump. Like so: Quote
jmoore4294 Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 On a side note: Somehow I had that plug come lose a while ago, and my ABS light came on. Looked under the hood, plugged it back in, ABS went off. Why would it throw an ABS light? /hijack Quote
