shyguy164
I can't short out the diagnostic connector, and an OBD II scan tool doesn't work either. How do I get the codes out of the computer? Is this the OBD 1.5 crap I've heard about.
Crazy K
on rare occasion, you can find an AZ or Advanced that has the correct scan tool, but it is very hard to find. basically you have a 94/95 "OBD 1.5" computer in your car which requires a scan tool, but not an OBD II scan tool. You may have to locate a shop that will scan you car...

Crazy K
do you have any clue as to why you have a probelm? is the light always on, or only after you start moving, or only when you are deaccelerating from high speed? etc etc.
95 vert
Orielly's has a scan tool and will check for free. At least the ones in KC do.

Goes off after driving a few mins. I'm thinking it's the egr gasket, I've had the egr on and off a few times without using a new gasket. I also think that while I'm at idle, I can hear a vacuum leak near the egr that goes away once i give her some throttle. I was just wondering if there was a simple way to get the codes just to confirm my suspicion. Afterall, i dont have $100+ to drop on a new egr gasket... shyguy164
3.4 dohc. i'm pretty sure it needs a new gasket since i've had it on and off so much. i was being sarcastic with the $100+ line... i forget that doesn't come across well over the internet. it was supposed to be funny since i'm pretty sure i know why the code is coming up, yet i haven't changed the $5-10 gasket yet... rossg
while the car is running spray some carb cleaner near the suspect gasket if there is a vacum leak the idle should change.
