Power-Glide
My buddy just blew the motor to hell in his rustang, leaving him with no car so he's parting it out real cheap to make some cash for another car.... Meaning I can score a Vortech V-2 SQ SC-Trim supercharger for $400 CAN. I have the tools and skills to fab up all the bracketry and pully drive but this damn thing will put out 20psi, and Iam a newblet to turbo/supercharging..... So I'll need larger injectors, a custom chip(who the hell can make one and what will I need to know?), prolly a colder plug, yards of silicon hose, and what else? If this doesn't sound very feasable gimme smack upside the head cuz all I can see are dyno charts now 8) . ~BTW this will be going on my non daily driven 90' GP w/completely stock internals and no modifications, scary huh? Supercharger specs: VORTECH V-2 SQ SC-TRIM SUPERCHARGER Helical cut gear profile with SQ technology Near silent operation Fits engines up to 680 horsepower Maximum airflow: 1,000 CFM * Maximum boost pressure: 20 PSI * Maximum impeller speed: 53,000 RPM Adiabatic efficiency: 75% ** Available with straight or curved discharge Click here for SC-Trim models
mdelorie
two words: Good luck. keep us up to date on how it goes.
Bolt_Crank
I wouldn't boost to 20PSI until you build up the engine internals

Heza
yeah...youre gonna need some better pistons (lower compression), rings, mean heads, injectors, fuel pump, hmm...what else, maybe a boost regulator and some other random whatnots. 91GranSport
For what it's worth, you might be better off dropping in a used L67.
Power-Glide
Well, regardless I'm goin through with this - picked up the supercharger today! All I really want is to add some moderate boost so I'll need to CNC or buy a larger pulley - I'm aiming for 12 psi max for now 8) . Other than that I'll grab some injectors outta a car in the scrapyard, like a TGP or L67 car and I'm still sourcing a chip(gonna shoot an email to FFP). No head intake/work will be done cuz it's a friggin 3.1 and I'm not pissing my money away - not to say you can't make large power but I want a much more substantial bottom end/block if it's gonna be huffin 20psi . I'll keep you guys updated on the progress when I get some spare time, until then behave .
Bolt_Crank
heheh, for starters you might wanna try something like 8lbs boost.... I'm not sure on the strength of the stock 3.1 internals, maybe someone else can give more info?
Robby1870
The Jeff M Topgun 160 chips boots the boost to like 11.5psi, and thats on stock internals Robby
god910
Yeah, but those "stock internals" on a TGP are forged. The NA 3.1 are made of bubble gum and tin foil. I 100% doubt that thing is boosting 20 psi. Usually they are set up for around 6. So you may want to get a boost gauge and check before you make a pulley. Also, Vortech makes pulleys for it. Unless you want to for the hell of it. (BTW IF IT DOES get over 12 psi go ahead and put on a bigger pulley.) Don't see how high it will go. Robby1870
Well, I was under the impression the TGP internals were the same as the n/a just something with the cranks, like the best ones were used for the TGPs or something like that Robby
