Euro34
There is a squeekng and rattling noise coming from under the plastic cover near the drive belt. it is the cover that has the sticker that says drive belt routing or something like that. The car isn't in the best of shape mechanically and I was wondering what that noise may be or what is under that cover. Any help is appreciated. Also there is a fuse (25) in the spot that the owners manual and cover of the underhood passenger side fuse box indicate should be a (15) it is the one that says IGN on the fuse box cover. can anybody that has a 3.4 automatic check theirs and let me know which should be in that location. thanks 1993, lumina 3.

First with the engine off, make sure all the acessory pulleys are not lose / wobbling around. Second, start the car, and check were the noise is coming. Hopefully it's your Water Pump with a dead bearing; at an old age, it'll die out like that. Check that and let us know what's up. - Erik
Robby1870
Use a screw driver as stethoscope to help diagnose where it is coming from (hopefully not timing belt or T-belt tensioner) Robby
GrandPrix34
i am having the same problem... I was thinking it was the power steering pump but i dont think that is the case. The engine is shaking also like having tremors or something... One of the things you should know are the following... 1.)Plug wires have been changed like 500 miles ago, BOSCH PREMIUM WIRESET. 2.) The car voltage has been going between 8 and 13, fluxutating as if the voltage regulator or the alternator itself is ready to give out... Just 2days ago, i was at the movies wit my girl...when we were leaving the car voltage was at around 8 and the car began to stutter to a level that even the radio was breaking up (imagine that, sounded like the radio was skipping like a CD) and then the car died Since my cell service was cut a week ago, we had to go inside the mall and call my dad. When he arrived he turned the car on and the car ran fine, the voltage level was at 13 like normal.... So wat i am thinking is this...its either the voltage regulator, the coils, or the power steering pump that are causing the noise describe above....so wat could be the cause of the engine shaking...???? Slade901
It could be either water pump, power steering, alternator like what they said. I would suggest to check the belt itself. The serpentine belt rarely snaps. The belt would just get stretched out past it maximum stretch limit. When was the serpentine belt changed? Check the serpentine belt tensioner itself. Old belt could be slipping since its teeth is worn off or cracked. There is a bolt/nut that holds the serpentine belt tensioner and make sure it is tight. The serpentine belt tensioner has a mark indicating minimum (new belt) and maximum (stretched out belt). The mark is just an etched line.
