DavidHowell3633
I crank the Olds up and check my gauges. I see the oil pressure needle bolt to almost 3/4 of the sweep. I drive and warm things up- needle stays near the same point. I come to a red light- needle hasn't moved. I go to AdvanceAuto and ask for a oil pressure sender for my particular car and the desciption they read out says "with light". I say no- it has an oil gauge. He says that's all they have. Is this common? I'm pretty sure this car has a sender for a light and that's not helping to see pressure on the gauge.
ManicMechanic
That's it. In 1992 they went from an actual gauge to a "dummy gauge."
Crazy K
I always debated on whether a oil sender (for real guages) could be swapped for a oil switch (for lights and fake gauges) to make the fake gauge in the 94 work. In my 92 vert, I swapped the complete drivetrain, using the one from my gone 92 lumina, and after completing this the gauge in the 92 worked. I never did it in the 94, and now I can't. RIP. I have a few sensors lying around... and the port on the 94 3100 motor is the larger size... but I would have to do more research to tell you what to grab if you want to try. DavidHowell3633
Naw- I can live with it the way it is just knowing what you've said. I'm satisfied in my old age just to know it has some pressure. Thanks
