I had this happen 3 or 4 times today for the first time. It seems to be only when coming down from higher speeds re off the highway and when going 85+ kph to a stop. The engine stumbled and stalled. It started right back up , but when I put it in drive a couple of times, it stalled again. it runs without any problem the rest of the time. I just had my AC recharged, could that be related? Anyway any ideas would be appreciated. It is a 1990 Lumina; 3.1 L.

Sounds like the torque converter isn't unlocking when coming off the highway.

how is your compressor working? if it is going bad it may be putting a drag on the engine

Compressor seems fine. It kicks in and out. It only happened that day, and it never happened again with or without the AC on the rest of the weekend. I thought about the torque converter. I guess i will see as time goes on if (when) it happens again. Thanks.

Unplug the TCC switch and see if it fixes it temporarily.
