jeremy
I have been looking around at SC Pulleys and I have came across a few different types. Are there any modifications that need to be done to the stock snout to get each type of pulley to fit or are they basically just plug and play regardless of what type/brand? also, what size belt is required for a 3.4" pulley? 1" smaller? Euro
Press on pulleys are pretty much just plug and play. Take the stock one off, then put the press on pulley on. A modular pulley system is kinda the same way, cept you install a hub onto the snout so changing pulley sizes is a lot quicker and easier. All pulleys up until you get to the 2.8" I believe, will install fine. Anything smaller than a 2.8 you need to grind the snout IIRC.

slick
i hope your doing the supporting mods to go with that pully Definately, or a few situations can occur: Lots of KR. Loss of power. And in general, probably won't run near as well. The supporting mods are a MUST before you swap pulley's.
jeremy
I know. I was just trying to understand the differences between all of the options before trying to figure out which direct I want to take.
birdman
definatly go with a modular pulley setup so you only need to rent the pulley puller once. Unless you want to buy one for +/-100 bucks. Come on down in august to the GOCGP meet at intence, everything is 10% off and free installation of pulleys, you cant beat that.
dbtk2
I didn't read any of the links so I'm not sure if one was for belt sizes or not, but a 3.4 requires a 660 belt with a stock tensioner bracket. With a bonneville bracket a 3.4 should be a 715.
terryk2003
i agree with going modular...then you dont have to use a puller to swap pulleys...especially great if you're not sure how far you wanna push your car and/or if you wanna swap pulleys for track/daily driving use. on that note...my 3.4 modular pulley system will be for sale as soon as i can find someone with a puller to swap the stock pulley back on for me. sl3196
I've always used stock belt size on my 3.4" Don't remember if thats the 660 or not lol. No belt slip though.
