AWeb80 Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 The Cat Is RIGHT after the D.P. about 18" Long. Looks Like A Big Tube. Quote
88red4cyl Posted July 16, 2008 Author Report Posted July 16, 2008 Thanks Aweb!! I have been looking at the wrong thing this whole time.. What I *thought* was the cat was right off the manifold before the 02 sensor.. It was bigger than the exhaust piping, and I thought that was it.. Quote
wickedbuick Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Another test that works most of the time is to use a infared thermometer. Run the car for 10-20, get it hot, and then check the temp of the exhaust pipe right before and after the cat. If it is somewhat close, the cat is probably OK. If it is notably lower on the exit of the cat, it is obviously clogged and bad. Infared thermometer is also great for checking rotors to determine if a caliper is hanging or anything else. Lets you catch it before you do more damage. -Deia Quote
