E-brake revisit

I know this has been covered a hundred times, but the search option on this site is not a friendly thing to use unless I'm using it wrong and it's different from several other forums I get on.

What is the easiest and quickest way to make the E-brake work once someone does the 94+ rear caliper upgrade? I don't care what it looks like as long as it works. The cables have been tied up for nearly a year and it's high time I make something work in case there is an emergency and I need to stop. This is on a '93 GP two door SE.

I've read several posts that guys were attempting to try to use the existing cables and others that use the '94+ cables. Some use the whole thing, pedal included and others are using just from the divider, back. This is a daily driver and is basically my sacrificial anode for winter driving.

ok, so you kept the original pedal and front portion of the cable and just purchased new left and right rears from the parts store. In addition, you fabricated the bracket up that you show in the photo? Is that the whole deal?

I guess I'm curious about this - what is the reason to have to fab. up a new bracket? Do the new cables mount differently at the "splitter?" The last time I was under there last fall, it just appeared that the '93 cables were too short to route back to where they could fit in the caliper. Was there something additional to this that I'm missing?

Thanks - I priced the cables at about $16 and $28. A pedal assembly from a +'94 is $25 and I have to pull it off.

94+ pedal does't bolt up easily and more fab work is needed. i only need to pump 1.25 time to fully set the e-brake now. the 94+ rear cables don't have springs on them and mount to the frame further back. note my new bracket is near the trailing arm now. the left cable also has a different connector to the caliper and both old style cables are near impossible to be 100% safe and reliable.imo

I'm having a hard time visualizing where those photos are taken, so I'll just have to crawl back underneath to see. I work in a steel fab shop, so I can easily make something once I see what is going on.
