EviLette
When I set my parking brake, only the passenger side cinches up. I'm thinking its not supposed to be this way. Any ideas? I dont know exactly how the parking brake lines are set up on these cars, though I've looked and it seems like everything is in place. Venom
On your car it should be both wheels locking up. Just look underneath your car. Follow the parking brake cable back and it should split back by the rear end to both rear wheels. FWIW W-bodies are notorious for faulty parking brake cables. meltboy1
ya they are, I can't believe that both my GPs work finally! There is a junction right under the drivers side seat where the cable from the pedal meets each one that goes to the calipers. Check your drivers side rear caliper and make sure it is connected onto the parking break, maybe for some odd reason it came off, otherwise it may need to be adjusted. I seem to remember it being a spin-type adjuster on a long bolt of some sort. If the answer is yes, I believe it is tightened as far as it will go. I can now jack my car off the ground to look (due to proper frame height from good suspension) so I will check tomorrow and double-check. I'll snag pictures if I see anything unususal. GutlessSupreme
there's an adjuster linkage for the passenger side.. I guess you could loosen it up to even them out. I had stretched the driver's side cable when doing brakes on the Cutlass.. bought a new cable but haven't installed it yet. now my caliper on that side is fucked because it hasn't been adjusting. I've definitely been having brake issues.... that particular caliper we had to change out a couple times, becuase it wouldn't ever function right. Are you saying that if I loosen it over on the passenger side, it help with adjustment? :scratching head: I know my brakes are supposed to auto-adjust, was hoping they'd do that now that I finally have a working abs unit in the car. I guess I've got another problem to chase down before that will happen.
GutlessSupreme
If you loosen the cable for the passenger side (a little), then the pedal will be able to pull both cables equally instead of leaving slack on the driver's side.
