I have a engine swap question?

My current 3.1 in my '89 Regal is running great and still has low miles. I know the 3.1's are like the energizer bunny, they just keep going and going. :lol: But I was thinking that if something happened to my engine in the next few years, I might do an engine swap, depending if the car is still in the same shape as now. But my question is this... I really like my digital dash, if I were to do a L67 or a L36 swap, would I be able to keep my digital dash? If not, is there any other engine besides a 2.8/3.1, that would allow me to keep my digital dash? Thanks everyone!

I have a feeling that the dash is not related as much to the engine as it is to the computer. I'm thinking it should be just fine with an L67 or L36 swap.

Swap in a 3400, it's almost plug and play. You could get a cam, and do alotta shit to a 3400. Turbo 3400 in a regal would be nice :wink: That's what a lot of people do to J-bodies because it's such an easy swap.

I thought I remember reading on a old thread on here, that the L67 or L36 computer isn't compatible with a digital dash. That is why I figured I'd ask.

Yeah a turbo 3400 would be pretty awesome! How much crank HP do you think a turbo 3400 would put out?

I'm not sure, I was on v6z24 searching, but I know there are a couple 3400 turbo J's that have made it well into the 12's for 1/4 mile.

a 3400 with 400Whp is no problem at all. 300Whp can be done on a stock motor with a good turbo.

 

Besides a 3400 is such an easy swap. You just need a tranny that will hold it.

Awesome! Now I have an idea of what I want to do when my engine dies. If it ever does. LOL

Hmm. This sounds like a pretty good idea for myself as well. Turbo 3400 vs Turbo L67. Hmm....

 

Given that the Turbo 3400 is an easier swap, how much would an engine cost me?

I bought my 3400 with 8,000miles for $500+shipping to my front door.

What kind of tranny could I use to handle the extra power? And while I'm on the subject of turbo 3400's, how many MPG's would a turbo 3400 get? I would be happy with what my car gets now 21-23/26-28 city/highway.

Most of the turbo'd 3400's I've read about still get great milage on the highway 25-30, obviously if your racing around it's going to drop to shit, but if you drive it decent, or go on a road trip it should still get good milage.

i could see a turbo'd, intercooled, cammed 3400 around 400 crank hp easy.

 

w/o breaking a sweat

 

massage it w/ P&P heads, intake and headers to the turbo.....fun little motor
