jbarrick80 Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 i was driving down the road and my car just shut off wouldn't even pop start. stopped along the road tried starting it again, it poped back through the intake. When i got the car home i would start but run very rough. There was a sound like it was sucking extra air but i couldn't tell if it was because it wasn't running right. i also saw the service engine light when it was running super rough and got the code 33. after it strated rough a couple times it won't start anymore. could this be an intake gasket or possibly a timing belt. ManicMechanic Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 What car is this? Sounds likea bad MAP sensor or it jumped time. Quote
jbarrick80 Posted June 28, 2008 Author Report Posted June 28, 2008 do you actually have to pull the oil pan to take the timing cover off? Quote
jbarrick80 Posted June 29, 2008 Author Report Posted June 29, 2008 car won't even idle rough any more. is it possible the timing chain tensioner gave out. Quote
ManicMechanic Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 I doubt it...I would try a MAP sensor or make sure there's not a break in the vacuum line. Quote
LuminaPower92 Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 I know when my crankshaft position sensor went in my 92 Lumina, I was driving down the road and the car just shut off. Sometimes restarted but then just wouldnt at all. Possibly could be that I guess, but dont know. Quote
Venom Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 I would start with vaccum leak first, then check for the normal things like spark and fuel. Quote
jbarrick80 Posted June 29, 2008 Author Report Posted June 29, 2008 looked at the car this morning the timing chain isn't broke rockers were moving. there is good spark so the CPS isn't the cultprut. there is fuel pressure at the valve on the rail. would the MAP being bad make the car not start? jbarrick80 Posted June 30, 2008 Author Report Posted June 30, 2008 well no more GP a drunk driver was driving through people yards and hit it. The back of the car is done for. Does any one need or want a 282 5-speed setup? Quote
GP1138 Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 Holy shit, that sucks ass! I'm sure someone here would be interested in your 282 setup... Quote

89SupremeCutty Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 holy crap! that sucks ass. i'd find out who it was and go after them. Quote
w-bodys_are_the_best Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 Damn I'd be pissed, looks like a nice car from your avatar. I have been used to MN insurance, no-fault, I like how here in Iowa it's not like that, so if I have Liability on my cutlass, ans somone rear ends it, or runs a light and t-bones me, they're paying for it if they're at fault. EviLette Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Oh man that's awful. So sorry to hear about your bad luck. That's just... ugh. Drunk drivers, I friggin hate them. Quote
