I Never Noticed How Slow These Were..

Until my friend and I were side by side out of a left turn and his Kia Sorento killed me. I floored it, he didn't.

The verts are heavy, why the 3100 was even available in these is beyond me. If you could afford the convertible in 1995 ($35,000?) I think you could afford to get the LQ1 in it.

my parents kia sedona minivan... would walk my 03. 3.6L v6 dohc with vvt i think that the powerplant anyways, rated at like 250+ hp. now its a differnt story but wow it was bad loosing to my dad in a minivan

yeah my moms kia rio will not smoke the grand prix. But the kia sernta or something like that (rental) Smoked the grand prix with the 4 cyl

24,000..Well there still weren't a bunch of cars that cost that much back then were there? I was only three.

I said I'm beating the piss out of my engine cus then I'll get an L67..My friends laughed at me and said it was dumb because the engine would be more than the car.

Not really, unless your vert is worth less than $1300(which would be close to the amount of most of the swap cost)

yeah, 5k pound car with a 3100 is a joke.....even with an LQ1 it's a joke.

 

Have you driven a lq1 vert? Im not sure why people always say lq1 verts are slow. I havnt taken mine to the track recently so no times but it sure as hell isnt slow. I got a chip exhaust and CAI but still, stock lq1 has guts for sure. I can beat any stock firebird/ camaro Im not braggin just giving the LQ1 its much deserved respect becasue its a badass engine.

GM trying to keep the price lower, looks without the go power.

 

A friend bought a new 3rd Gen Camaro in '84 that had the Iron Duke with a 5 speed. What a gutless bucket that was...it had the stiffest accel pedal spring for some wierd reason. Eventually, GM dropped that engine since hardly anyone would buy that combination.

Kind of reminds me, somewhat, when two of my friends bought brand new cars in 1988. One bought a Turbo Sunbird convertible and the other a Corvette. They decided to race........The Sunbird driver lost control and went in to the woods after BEATING the Corvette. He came out all f-ed up but he was grinning from ear to ear because he beat that Corvette.

Yeah, the stock 350 in my friends '87 'Vette was a thumping 245hp. But, back in the day, the 'Vette was one of the faster stock production cars you could buy. Had lots more torque that most cars out at the time.

 

I remember the late 70's 'Vette was 175hp stock, with the L-82 option bringing it up to 225hp. Things have changed!

Oh yes, it did! And that was a big no no so the GNX went bye bye.

 

At least the 3100 SOUNDS a tad bit beefy in the upper rpms.

what did you run? And by stock camaro/firebird....you mean V6 right?

Maybe that person was in the car when it was weighed and they were very..husky. :confused:
