Identity Crisis
96 3.4DOHC Auto When just light peddling the throttle and the car hits 1700RPM it starts to shutter and then when it goes over 2000 RPM it goes away. I have changed the plugs and wires and all of the upper intake, intake tube and throttle body gaskets, PCV, air filter, oil changes etc and nothing helps it. There is a listing in my snap on scanner for this issue but there is not explaination. Does anyone have a clear idea of what the hell is going on? RareGMFan
I don't know if there is something else that the LQ1 is prone to that may be causing your issue, but I know I've had several cars shutter pretty badly at certain RPM when a coil or 2 was toast. The ones on my TGP literally had cracked casings that were arcing like crazy, to the point that they would make the motor shutter if I pressed any harder than 1/4 of the way down on the accelerator. Identity Crisis
I replaced the coils at the same time I did the wires.

Identity Crisis
This happens while driving only. And the trans fluid was changed 5000kms ago.
BXX
Shuddering with no signs of an engine misfire is 99% of the time transmission fluid or transmisson torque convertor/internal issues.
Identity Crisis
I thought this shuttering was a common issue with these cars?
1990lumina
Either that or maybe you have a worn out mount or two. My Lumina used to shudder with the worn out lower mount when the fluid leaked out of it

BXX
Either that or maybe you have a worn out mount or two. My Lumina used to shudder with the worn out lower mount when the fluid leaked out of it That wont cause a shudder on its own... Trust me, I have every mount pretty much blown on my CS with no shuddering whatsoever... Now that I remember, I never had a W with good mounts
Identity Crisis
TCC? I will give that a try this week. Is it on the Drivers side?

I'd be be inclined to believe it is a trans problem as well.
Brian P
look at the ignition coils in the dark and check for arcing between the terminals. Spray some water mist around there too, that might help it show up.
Identity Crisis
I just changed the coils this DEC and it was doing this before and after.
