89SupremeCutty
i finally put the dual exhaust i got from a j/y monte z34 that i got 2 weeks ago on today. the monte i got them from had only 80k miles on it. apparently the mufflers are custom. not sure what brand they are, but they are definately not gm mufflers. as soon as i can i'll get a sound clip of it. i'll also get pics of it when it's not dark outside lol. Venom
Cool, how hard of a swap was it? Im always afraid to do exhaust work because of rusted bolts and hangers. And pics are a must.
89SupremeCutty
wasn't hard at all. in fact it swapped right in no problem. i cut the pipe that was on the car originally just after the cat and before the flange cause the bolts were rusted out. the new exhaust i put on was all welded together like it was custom or something. i couldn't get the left side hung as well as the right cause i had no hanger so i made one out of a coat hanger. all the other hangers were in the same place. i'll get pics as soon as i can. if i look at the numbers on the mufflers, does anyone think i can find out what company they're from? there's no name on them. i love doing exhaust work. when i worked for an exhaust shop that was one of my specialties besides brakes. i don't know how to weld that good lol. Olds W31
Sounds pretty cool! That is how I did mine, find a DOHC car and hack the dual system and replace the single. Did you notice any part numbers on the mufflers? They do sound nice on the 6!
89SupremeCutty
iirc i did see part numbers. if i get them off the mufflers would i be able to find out the manufacture? the pipe comming off the cat was 2" and i think that it was 2" all the way back. the new pipe after the cat was 2.25". i do have a slight leak where i cut the old pipe to put the new one in, but it's barely noticable. im not sure if the leak is actually comming from where i connected the new pipe or from in front of the cat. during the winter we had a bad storm and i hit a pile of snow and the exhaust got louder like i had a leak but went away after about a mile. i forgot i do have a pic of th rear with the new exhaust installed. Post the PN and I will try to find out what they are. I am interested in that I did a stock 3.4 Dual system on my 3100....its got the look, but very little sound. Yours sounds gutsy, but mellow.... Sidewinder
Noice, white Lumina's rule! I'll have to get an exhaust clip of mine as well. Mine is from a Monte Z34 I bought with a 3.4L. I agree with the easy install though I got a shop to do it. I got them to axe off the resonator and had them weld up a pipe in its place. Sounds great, I actually really like it. It did take it a bit to get louder (computer adjustments and my ICM issue) and I think I'm going to leave it this way because its got a nice tone and its not incredibly loud. I'll get an exhaust clip and driveby so we can compare. Good looking Lumi keep up the good work

Yours sounds gutsy, but mellow.... i love the gutsy sound of it but at highway speeds it's not really all that noticable. i noticed that when i put the new exhaust on, the mufflers as well as the tips were welded to the pipe, so im guessing custom exhaust possibly? i will have pleanty of time to fix that driver side hanger this weekend and possibly the leak where i put the 2 pipes together. from take offs and opening it up on the highway it does seem like it has a tad bit more power. Sidewinder
Ok I got some clips today, and I now realize how much the mic on this camera sucks. The sound quality isn't great but here they are: Idle and Rev Driveby

89SupremeCutty
ok i got the number off one of the mufflers. one of them was: 08y6 i think...not sure if that '0' could have been an 'O' and the other is 84222581. i also got the drivers side hung up better than before. i thought i had a universal hanger in my garage but i couldn't find it so i ised something other than a coat hanger to hang it lol. but i forgot to cut the coat hanger off. Yeah, in the upper RPM range the engine becomes louder than the exhaust and its all I can hear. I wouldn't mind it being louder but I am pretty happy with the way it looks and turned out. 89SupremeCutty
mine sounds like that too. once i go past about 3500 all you can hear is engine and not the exhaust.
