mediabandit Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 okk, i have a '91 Lumina Z34 and i really want to get rid of these DRL's. i am going to be putting the blackout covers on the headlights and would like to do away with those DRL's. i have searched the forum but the only write-up that was linked was for '99 and up. where exactly is the DRl module located on my car? and what is the procedure in disabling them? cutting of a wire or pulling of a fuse. greatly appreciate the help. thanks in advance. Venom Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 A 91 had DRL? I know on my 96 Beretta there was a box behind the radio that you had to snip a wire off of. Quote
mediabandit Posted June 8, 2008 Author Report Posted June 8, 2008 yes, after 1990 all Canadian cars had DRL's installed by law. Quote
Venom Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 Duh, forgot about you being from Canada. Let me scan my wiring schematics and see what I come up with. Quote
mediabandit Posted June 8, 2008 Author Report Posted June 8, 2008 cool, thanks. much appreciated. Quote
mediabandit Posted June 8, 2008 Author Report Posted June 8, 2008 not sure, i looked in the glove box and under the hood, but seen nothing for the DRL Â Quote
MonteCarloChick Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 odd Not a first gen chick so I wouldn't know. I just know the 5th gen Montes had a fuse you could pull Quote
mediabandit Posted June 8, 2008 Author Report Posted June 8, 2008 it may be in there somewhere just labeled differently. hopefully someone on here knows. Quote
1990lumina Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 You want to disable the DRL or do you want to disable the auto lights as well? Quote
mediabandit Posted June 8, 2008 Author Report Posted June 8, 2008 just the drl if possible, if not, then i will disable both, i am not to worried about it. just need to know where to go to do that. Â Quote
Q-Ball Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 You pull a 50 amp fuse under your hood on the drivers side. I have to do it, since my highbeams are stuck on. Quote
mediabandit Posted June 8, 2008 Author Report Posted June 8, 2008 You pull a 50 amp fuse under your hood on the drivers side. I have to do it, since my highbeams are stuck on. Â and that will disable the drl's? what is the fuse labeled? do you remember the bank it is in if not the label? Quote
Artemis Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 Im from Canada, and I've done it on my 92 GP, couldn't be easier. There's a box with two plugs plugged into it. Its pretty much either in front or behind the e-brake cable if i remember. The box says "LECTRON ROCH MI" Â on it and looks like this. Â Quote
Regal_GS_1989 Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 Just FYI. My cutlass' DRLs were either disabled (Or just didnt' work ) but the automatic headlights worked just as they should, so I'm assuming that you should be able to disable the DRL's and keep the auto function working as it should. Identity Crisis Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 So the box should be up under the dash on the drivers side and all I have to do is pull out the plugs?? Quote
mediabandit Posted June 18, 2008 Author Report Posted June 18, 2008 i will be trying that tomorrow when i install the hid kit, so i will repost here to let you know if that all i needed to do Identity. Quote
Identity Crisis Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Cool cause I am going to be working on my GP this weekend and I would like to disable the DRL also. Quote
mediabandit Posted June 23, 2008 Author Report Posted June 23, 2008 i got the hid kit on friday, but have been working all weekend, i am going to get to it either monday afternoon or tueday. i work nights and run my own business during the day as well, so it makes it hard to find time to work on the car. but i know i will get to it for sure on tuesday becasue i am off monday night and tuesday night. i will get some before pics of the lights tonight so that way there is something to compare them too once the hid kit is installed.
