Where does this wire go?

While I was cleaning under my hood the other day I came across something someone "swept under the rug" at some point. It's a wire that's coming off of a loom between the vacuum booster and the strut tower. The arrow on the left shows where the loom comes thru the firewall. The arrow on the right shows where the wire splits off of the loom.It has orange and black wires and I cannot figure out where it goes. I know a fellow W-lover could go look at their car and find out its temination point quickly and I would appreciate it so much. I also found a purple wire with no home, but I have less confidence that we'll be able to solve that one. I don't have a picture of that one and I have a feeling it has something to do with an old stereo install. There are various other clipped off wires that I KNOW were from a system. Anyway, your help is much appreciated.

That's what I thought it must be, but I don't have a light under my hood. But I do have something rattling around between the sound deadener and the hood! I'll have to pop the deadener off and see what it is.

Yup, hood light. Especially since yours is missing, they just tucked it away.
