H.P.Productions
my dad has started lookimn for GP engines already but all he could finde was a low mialaged 2.8 (itll do me no goo to down grade) Ive been told that any GM front drive V6-V8 that hooks up to a 4t60 tranny will work in my car... can yall just tell some possible engine swap to look out for besides the L67 ? cause L67s arent cheap in west texas unless the bearing go bad in the super charger or somthin. I'm realy just lookin for somthin that out performs my 3.1 but I dont want a 3.4 if I'm goin threw all the trouble of a swap I want to feelin a significant power increase
god910
TGP 3.1 Turbo. I have three of them. (One being used.)
H.P.Productions
hmm their are no TGP's in my area at all (not even in th junk yards) so unless I could finde a cheap one online with the pcm 3.1 turbo is off the list.
god910
I had one sent from Misery, er Missouri. (Props to Shawn our fearless SiteAdmin) About 800 miles. $80 shipping. So don't think you need to get a close one. Any one will do.
H.P.Productions
hmmmm that a possibility if I can finde one fast.....My GT has been down every sence the last week of may.......That relates to no car all summer.... would be possible to swap for a N/A 3800 and latter add a supercharger? like use a first series n/a 3800 and once I can finde one add a first gen blower later? I think you would be decently happy w/ a NA series one or two 3800 w/o supercharger, they make quite a bit more than the 3.1's do(around 30 more horsepower and 45 more lbs/ft of torque if my thinking is right tonight)....adding a supercharger later really isn't a great idea being that the supercharged motors are fairly stronger than the NA versions of them and most people just say it's easier to go w/ an entire supercharged motor than to convert a NA one to a supercharged one the right way, but, I guess it boils down to what you're willing to do. RomeoZ34
If you don't want a 3.4, just wait it out and save for an L67, imagine 240hp on tap whenever you want  I waited a year for my motor, but we did it right and slowly but surely did an awesome rebuild on a 3.4 DOHC. I think it was well worth it, and L67 woulda been fun too tho
mfewtrail
btw, what happened to your 3.1 in the car? nothing? or did something mess up on it? just wondering why you are considering/doing a swap(mostl likely power?)????????????????? H.P.Productions
^^^^ I hydro locked my 3.1 and wrecked one of the heads. I currently have the top end broken down.... the previous owner had already did some mods to the engine or atleast I think he did cause my 92 3.1 has alot more power then the 3100 in my brothers wifes lumina.....thiers a sticker under the hood that gives the vin number for a larger fuel pump witch is on the car...but I got the car threw a lean(he had my dad do some work to it and never payed)
god910
An N/A 3800 is a good idea, there is a guy down in Indy that does NA 3800's. He can get ~280-300 HP w/o too big of a deal. I have a 3800 on the chopping block right now, getting ready to send the heads and block out. Now that I have my turbo motor I might keep that one NA. (Who am I kidding?) We shall see. SmokesGTP
Wow, a 280 to 300 horse N/A 3800. Where do I sign up? It would be so fun to spank all those guys who think they're bad with they're superchargers.
H.P.Productions
I dont have to have any custom harness for a 3800 swap do I cause series 1 3800's are a dime a dozen Down hear...I could probly get one with the harness and pcm for around $400 and less if I say my dad sent me to get it (he's a popular mechanic in my town I havent seen too many series 2 N/A engines for sale but I could get a whole 96 cutlass sedan that has an L67 for $650 but I the engine may be damaged cause they have a shorter belt on witch is bypassing the blower making it a very shitty runin N/A 3800
RomeoZ34
650?? If anything, but it as a beater man!
H.P.Productions
righte now I'm favoring the 4.9 caddy over a 3800 engine I drove my dads friends 94 large body Sedan Devile this morin and that thing has to out way my car by neer 1,000lbs but I was shocked at the power that thing was puttin down.......it threw me back in the seat like It was a sports car.. his caddy also has the 4T60 tranny he hasnt had any problems in the 4 years he has owned the car. I can only imagin what a 4.9 will feal like in GP coupe the only thing I think I'ma have to wrry about is cooling and exhauste.... cause we have a surpluss of caddy wire harnesses, PCMs, cooling fan, radiater, etc. cause my dad makes money on the side selling caddy parts to people. so it's gonna be a caddy 4.9 unless I can finde a a cheap engine puttin out as much power stock.... SmokesGTP
They only have 200 horses dude. The have a boatload of torque like 275Lb/Ft. I think or more but they get like 13 miles to the gallon. My friend has one in his Seville and it's not that great. Plus I don't think that thing is gonna fit, not to mention your car will understeer something awful with that heavy chunk of metal in there. SmokesGTP
Nevermind I guess they will fit from what I've read but it looks pretty damn tight.

H.P.Productions
Nevermind I guess they will fit from what I've read but it looks pretty damn tight. yeh it is a pretty tighte fit but the low end torque is worth it and I wouldnt be taking the thing on any race corses a the understeer couldnt be that bad
H.P.Productions
Well Ive been having trouble convincing my dad that any w-body v6 would mount righte up in my engine bay (thanks to to a computer illiterate dumb ass at the salvage yard) so now my parents wont carry the bill for unless I get a an engine out of another GP. My mom found a totaled 93 GP SE that looks exacly like my 92 GT(the previous owner rebaged my GT to SE) ......... If get the parts cat I'm hoping it has a 3.4 engine in it....and leather seats or atleast power so I can replce the motoer in my drivers seats cause somtimes it sticks. but atleased it has laced wheels cause mine has the ugly pentagon alloys.
