how to use CD/AUX on a factory 97 monte carlo headunit.

so how do you use that? is it like a plug? or what? what all would be involved to make it so i could plug an mp3 player into or something along those lines? also, how hard is it to replace the bulbs on the buttons, like half of mine are out.
