Night Fury
I only have first and second. I am 'fixing' it by replacing it.
Venom
If the tranny is actually toast, then just replacement. I always take tranny problems to a specialist because thats the one thing I dont work on with cars.
Regal_GS_1989
Does the speedometer work? If so, It could just be the Speed Sensor that is bad.
1988s10
i bet the tranny is toast. did this happen all at once? like one day just 1st gear? or did it just get worse over time? i'm hoping the shifting problems with my tranny are just a bad govener if not i'm pulling the tranny and buying a used one for like $350. Brian P
no reverse either? Do you hear a rattling noise in park? IF so, a hard-part of the tranny has failed. Time for a replacement or reman.
draggin1969
take it to a mechanic and ask them to hook it up to a diagnostics. they can whatch to see if the shift solinoids are firing or not.
