patgizz Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 IMO the L27 all-around is the most reliable and low-maintenance engine to fit into a 1st gen w-body, and being a whole second faster in the 1/4 mile, isn't slow either (at least for that time period). the 3.1 does not have a meltylicious plastic intake manifold. The 3800 Series 2 (L36) was the one with the intake manifold plenum warping, not the L27 I'm talking about. The L27 also doesn't have a predictable LIM gasket failure. Quote
