black35intrigue
Hello, I am new to this page. I have a 99 Olds Intrigue wit a 3.5 in it. (SHORTSTAR, NORTHSTAR V6, ect.) anyways I hit the track tonight for the first time for my baseline run, and she pulled a 15.92 @ 89.21 not to bad. that was with trac off, no pre-stage and leaving on a 1600 rpm brake torque. it spun for maybe 10 feet or so. (its hard to pre-stage when the dash lights up like a christmas tree from all the warning lights) anyways what kind of stuff is there for this engine. if any. I'd like to find a K&N, put a flowmaster on it, and whatever else possible. How tough is a 4t65e? my ultimate goal is to reproduce the OSV Intrigue with a 4.6 northstar and a 4t80e but for now......... THX. RomeoZ34
I just did a quick search on google.com and it looks like you are flat ass outta luck, unless you are good at custom projects
Redfox340
Welcome aboard... chaulk another one up for the 3.5L DOHC'ers. Well, there are the basics like updating intake and exhaust systems... ...but unfortunatly there's nothing much specifically for the Shortstar. Here are a couple previous posts asking the very same thing; hopefully this gets you started! http://www.w-body.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=905&highlight= http://www.w-body.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=304&highlight= Best of luck! - Erik
SmokesGTP
Yeah that 3.5L is a really cool engine. That thing is like the LQ1 reincarnated with no dist-O ring and no alt. on the bottom..
black35intrigue
Thanks guys, so far I have descreened the MAF, but that was right after I bought it. anyways, I think I may make an intake, and put a nice exhaust on it. and some big sticky tires cus it already can't get good traction. I'd like to see mid 14's anyways how does the that 4t65 hold up? maybe I'll supercharge it.
RomeoZ34
I think the 4T65 is the same tranny in the newer GTP's, I know some of them have held up to a lotta boost, insane levels. And others have blown on stock boost. I know a company makes a 4T65HD tranny, w/ an LSD and all sorts of other goodies. You might be able to find it through http://www.clubgp.com Good luck! black35intrigue
I recently put on a cold air kit made from a generic honda intake kit, it looks like one made for the car. I had to make a bracket for the ECM but that looks awesome too. (a night with the welder and cut off saw) I put a real K&N on it, and put on a flowmaster muffler, (I would really like to have the rear cover modified so I can have duals with nice chrome tips) I know some people that work in body shops so maybe soon. After all this it really runs now. I need to get back to the track but it's alot quicker, and now I average 30 mpg just daily driving. GrandPrix34
now I average 30 mpg just daily driving.    right now, my Pree is averaging like 16 or 17 daily driving and the gas price around here isnt helping much!! (1.52 the gallon!!!!!) By the way, you should consider taking advantage of the lack for the shortstar and make custom setups for peeps wit the 3.5L
SmokesGTP
I would kill for 1.52$ a gallon. We're at 1.75$ and thats not even close to the worst. 1.52$ is about as cheap as it gets.
