EviLette
So I went into Oreillys and sat down with the parts guy I used to work with all the time for this car.. he knows me by face, name, and car. I chased down the warranty information on my Monroe struts, and they are all covered by a lifetime warranty. The problem that I am running into now, though, is that the only way I can warranty out the parts is to bring in the old parts and swap them for new ones. YEAH, like I'm going to be able to do that with the struts ON the car so I can drive it, or OFF because I'm having a shop put the new ones on. Long story short, brick wall syndrom has commenced. So I decided... I'm going to buy a set of KYBs for the car, the mounting hardware, and the dust boots... My dust boots aren't staying down on a couple struts, and I know that's not helping the longevity of these parts in any way. I also have to get a new monoleaf... or a used one, but I should just get a good one, so I know its not gonna start cracking on me a week after I get it put on. Problem is... Monoleaf on there now is toast.. along with my suspension. But I have to leave my speakerbox in there, because I CANT LIFT IT OUT of there.. let alone drag it up three flights of steps to my apartment LOL. So its sitting in there with my ass end dragging like a dog with fleas. The other problem I've encountered is that I can't seem to find a parts store in town to order the damn spring isolator pads (Moog #K6544) and I'm not putting suspension on until I have those bastards to go along with it. Should I get the alignment adjustment bolts as well? (I believe they are camber, but not totally sure... need to go look at the page again) So far.... Front Struts/bearings Rear struts/mounts Monoleaf isolator pads That's the items that I know for sure it is going to take to get my suspension back to normal. Someone mentioned trailing arms, lateral links, sway bars, etc., to upgrade for better handling. Those are steering more than suspension...but I'm wondering if any of that stuff will be breaking in the near future. The only one of those items i just listed (in this paragraph) that I"m familiar with is the sway bar... and I haven't even LOOKED to know where it is on my car. Erm. I'm rambling right now. Anyhow, am I missing anything on getting my suspension put back together AGAIN? Please let me know, I'm just gonna freaking buy everything at once... I've got several weeks to have this fixed so I can feel confident driving my car up to KC again. also.. I'M SICK OF WARPED ROTORS. I haven't been able to keep a set of rotors from warping on this car in the time I've owned it. I know this is a huge problem with the W's, especially with faulty ABS units. I'm probably going to do away with my ABS now, after this last incident, but its down the road. At this point I'm just wondering... Those of you with slotted/drilled rotors... how do they hold up? Warp less, I pray they do... I'm seriously, SERIOUSLY considering throwing a set on my car... I'm sick of the rotor issues. One less thing to fight with on FE, if ya know what I mean. Anyhow, is there any general information on where to find a set, or do I need to just watch ebay, and pray that the ones marketed for my car will actually fit? Also, willl I need to grab new pads for the rotors, or just throw the old pads on with the new rotors? From what I remember, it doesn't work so well like that, but I dont' quite remember. Info! Yeesh, no more Kahluah.
ManicMechanic
You don't have a NAPA local to you? That's where I got my spring pads.

EviLette
We don't have a napa here in Wichita. Closest napa is quite a ways away. My zip is 67216 if you want to verify it, LOL. If we had a napa, do you think I'd be buying parts at oreilly?
ManicMechanic
I was just asking......... Advanced carries TRW spring pad insulators which are the same thing.

jdcutty
And to answer the question at the bottom of your post. If you get new rotors you will have to get new pads, especially if your rotors now are warped because the pads will be worn unevenly and the will just mess up your new rotors. Yeah, that's what I thought, but needed to double check. I'd been drinking when I made that post last night. AFAIK, my pads are lifetime warranty.. so theoretically i should be able to take them in and say "I'm putting new rotors on, i want to swap these out" and they'll do it right?
