sws2000 Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 I went to the dealer to scan for ABS codes and they found the following: RF WSS at 0 ohms RF and LF solenoid circuit open Rear exapansion spring brake will not hold motor Rear ABS motor free spin They quoted me $1625 just in parts to fix these problems. Anyone else thinks this is way too much. The first 2 seem like just a bad connection. How easy or hard will it be to repair these problems once I find the parts at a decent price? BXX Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 1st one is more than likely a bad WSS, which requires replacing the hub assembly The rest will pretty much be the ABS module/pump assembly which is an expensive part.. Pull the ABS fuse and the idiot light if you want and dont worry about the ABS system.. The early ABS systems didnt work worth a damn anyway Quote
Crazy K Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 1st one is more than likely a bad WSS, which requires replacing the hub assembly thats on the rears. the fronts have sensors which go though the hub, and can be replaced separately. The rest will pretty much be the ABS module/pump assembly which is an expensive part.. Pull the ABS fuse and the idiot light if you want and dont worry about the ABS system.. sws2000 Posted May 28, 2008 Author Report Posted May 28, 2008 I just found a speed sensor for $43 and a motor/pump for $267 on parts4chevys. So the hub assy has to be replace for the SS? I'm trying to decide if it's really worth it. Quote
BXX Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Oh yeah, I forgot the gen 1's could be replaced up front And no, its not worth the money.. Full the ABS fuse, and remove the cluster and remove the ABS light. Problem solved. Quote
rockfangd Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 on my cutlass i went almost 4 years without abs but i replaced the 2 dront sensors. (not the bearings) for the same top codes, and i reset the system and it works perfect. But there is other options also though. i just like things perfect lol Quote
BXX Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 How did you reset the system? The proper way??? Using a Tech 2 scan tool... The somewhat proper way??? Undo the battery for a bit, hook it up, turn the ignition on, you should hear to 2 major ABS solenoids click really loud, and start it and drive.. Quote
rockfangd Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 well when i did mine i just did the repair and it automatically went off. but i have reset it with the tech 2 scanner Quote
