sonyman87
Here are the symptoms. i have wires just sitting in the engine bay hooked up to nothing! But the car will start and it will run everything works. except the following. 1. no power from altinator 2. no Low oil or battery warning light even with sub 10volt operation and the oil level sensor unplugged. not sure whatelse isnt working but the power windows still work. note: the altinator has zero miles and is properly hooked up. I beleve there is a communication problem. I believe the car dosnt know that it has low volts so it dosnt charge. It dosn't even know if there is even oil in the pan. Dosnt care just runs. What should i be looking for? btw! already layed 2 feet of blackmarks in the driveway doing a "light" 1400-1600rpm hole shot. Woot! no problem at all. the 3800s2 has nothing on this. sonyman87
18 view no replys. let me ask this another way. Where is the voltage regulator for the altinator, or where is th altinator pluging into? the main computer under the hood? other controler? rockfangd
ok the main computer is under the hood on the passenger side near the headlight. The regulator is in the alternator. i believe the big red wire comes from the battery, then the plug i believe 3 pin, one goes to the computer, one to the ignition. I will read my manual tonight for some insight to the issue
sonyman87
ok the main computer is under the hood on the passenger side near the headlight. The regulator is in the alternator. i believe the big red wire comes from the battery, then the plug i believe 3 pin, one goes to the computer, one to the ignition. I will read my manual tonight for some insight to the issue im positive the alt is plugged in correctly. im assuming a short or cut wire maybe im going to try and find time next weekend to hunt down some wires. i check a bunch last weekend and there are some i have no idea where they go. the puzzleing question is why isnt the dash light reporting a dead battery. Yes the lightbulb works and all bulbs pass POST. Is it the altinators v-regulator's job alone to charge the battery or does it needs commands from the computer? just a note: there is a FFP underdrive pully in the system not that should make any difference. 5speedz34
3-test wire 4-pretty sure plugs into the coolant temp sender in the head 5-AC compressor plug
rockfangd
ok this may take a minute. plug 1 looks like it goes to the canister below the computer, looks like a red plug plug 2 not quite sure. i know someone on the board knows plug 3fuel pump test wire. leave unconnected plug 4 looks to be for the knock sensor right next to the oil filter. Could be wrong but my best guess plug 5 goes to the oil pressure sending unit also nearby to the oil filter. 3 wire, tan, orange, and one other color. pretty hard to miss
Robby1870
2 = underhood light??? Also maybe the IAT plug?
cutlassdude96
plug 1 looks like the plug that would plug in the power steering pump on cars equip with NV7
rockfangd
plug 2 looks too big to be the underhood light and does not have a blue seal. and also looks to large for the IAT also. there is a sensor below the TB but i dont remember what it is. I know it isnt the IAC but maybe the black TPS below it
