Squeaking

I have a pretty loud rhythmic squeaking as I roll out of a stop or slow to a stop. The squeaking goes away 90% of the time when the brakes are applied.

Any ideas? :willynilly:

according to some i traded my 03 monte off because of this....

sounds alot like the noise i had on my 03

is it happening with really light brake pressure nichole? and goes away when you're actually trying to stop the car ? the brakes on my 03 were new as well, but i did have some weird~ish wear marks on my rotors.

Yep  It's been raining and about 40* outside so I have been able to get any lube back there.

It is embarrassing :(

 no kidding i had the brakes done on my old 03 and within a couple months they were squealing, wasn't happy with them at all, i think that had i not traded the car off for the 04 i would have been replacing the brakes all over again. with the rust on the rotors and the squealing i don't think i would have tried to make sure they were shimmed properly and lubed i would have just done another 4 wheel brake job

The funny thing is, is that I got the more expensive Bendix brakes all around instead of the Advance Auto cheapos and these make a horrible squealing sound

If the pads are okay, you may just need to apply an anti-squeal coating on the back of the pads (AKA brake grease) also anywhere the pads touch the caliper or bracket. Might be a good time to clean and grease up the slider pins along with checking any anti-rattle clips for damage.
