Bake82
Get out the KY lube...cuz it's going to be MAJOR $$$$$$. However I picked up a 3.1 GM crate last year for $340. It was brand new but I picked it up from somebody else who bought it from GM. every so often a new 3.4 pops up anywhere from 900-1500
theghoul
[Drops pants to ankles] I bought a jasper motor from http://www.jasperengines.com who supposedly reman them to exceed manufacturer specs. They also give you a 75k warranty. === Installation Instructions: PLEASE REFER TO ENCLOSED INFORMATION WHEN INSTALLING. External oil coolers can be impossible to clean. Contamination from a previous failure can cause debris to lodge in the original cooler. We recommend the cooler be replaced. Proof of a cooler purchase may be required if bearing failure occurs on your new engine. If this application has a harmonic balancer or hub assembly that seals against the crankshaft, Jasper recommends the balancer be replaced or have a repair sleeve installed to prevent the potential for front seal leaks. 19Cutlass94
If money isnt an issue, buy one from GM.
5speedz34
If we are talking about a 3.4 DOHC, GM hasn't made those in years.

CSI_MuNkY
Jasper wants $5000 to rebuild a 94+ LQ1 (I never checked on older ones). At that rate, I'd do it myself and take the individual parts to a machine shop to have them reworked. Jamie
Crazy K
I should sell one of my good engines. but yeah, $$$$$ for a reman.
CSI_MuNkY
Oh, and they give you next to nothing for your core, $400. Of course if the old engine if fucked, $400 is a deal, lol Jamie
hmdznrcld
I bought a 94 crate long block motor on ebay last year, 900.00 shipped to my door in Calif.

theghoul
I retract my Jasper motor endorsement. The replacement motor started to run bad and burn coolant...uh oh... YEP, coolant is in the oil. Replaced it with motor # 2 Motor # 2 now has a misfire on cyl 6. Replaced injectors, plugs and wires, also checked for vacuum leaks and valid fuel pressure. The belt timing was spot on. Still hosed. Replaced EGR valve for shits and giggles, still misfired. Shop called Jasper, did a pressure test, motor # 2 is bad. Car has been out of commission for 2 weeks and summer is slipping away. White93z34
good luck finding someone to do that period, let alone right and for a reasonable price.

Not sure if Brian Teel still does it, but he quoted me $3500 for an entire L67 swap in the regal a couple of years ago. I forget what he charges for a 284 install, but I've heard great things about him.
CSI_MuNkY
Last I heard Brian Teel was still doing them... I think his time span is like 4 days or something like that... Jamie

Yeah but its a Series 1 3800, not a Series 2. You still need to convert it to OBD2 and get a new wiring harness, among a few other things. Still doesn't matter the 1st gen w-body fits a gen 2 motor with no problem, using the stock mounts and everything. Just a few minor tweaks
