I'm Looking At Getting A Custom DP Made Since The Stock One Is Soo Small....Less Than 2" I.D. Should I In With A 2.5" DP And 2.25 Inch Piping All The Way Back? And What Brand Of Muffler? MagnaFlow? And What Model?

You can easily fit a 2.5" DP. Thats what I would go with. Since you have duals on your car, Id run 2.5" pipe to the duals, then 2.25" back to the tips.

Ill get some sound clips up soon of my exhaust with dynomax mufflers on it. You will NEED a resonator. My brand of choice if Vibrant.

ohh and I almost forgot! if you go with a 304 stainless pipe like I did, you cannot weld that to the stock flange. You need to run a weld around it, then TIG to that weld. The pipe and the flange will not TIG weld together.

If you want power, mandrel bends are a MUST.

I ALSO strongly suggest stainless, as midwestern winters can kill an aluminized exhaust in as little as 2-3 years. Kinda sucks to spend that much cash every couple of years........

As for other components, I would suggest any kind of good, straight-through mufflers (such as all Borla's, almost all Magnaflows and Dynomax's Ultraflow line) and resonator and a good catalytic convertor.

Also, *I* would suggest 2.25inch piping (remember....mandrel bends) unless you plan on a swap or hybridizing your engine later. Canada's old Beretta (when it still had the 3100) made 138whp with an RSM WAI, an FFP UDP and a customer mandrel bent 2.25in exhaust with an Extremeflow cat and a Dynomax Ultraflow muffler.............I can ALSO tell you about another Beretta with almost identical mods, but with a 2.5in PRESS bent exhaust that made LESS power.

You do the math

Either way, a 2.25in exhaust done RIGHT will outflow a basic 2.5in setup and is MORE than enough for the little L82.

I am running some cheapo resonator at my dp followed by a flowmaster delta force muffler and it is 2.5 back to the y and 2.25 from there out to camaro z-28 tips. Some people here can vouch for my car sounding pretty badass.

I will make one this afternoon for ya.

Does anyone make headers for a 3.1/3100?? that would be an excellent place to start!?

No

I Don't Drive Winters, So Type Of Pipe Doesn't Matter. And Of Course I Will Get Mandrel bent pipe. And No Cat

aluminized steel exhaust will still rust out.

It's probably stainless. I've still got the original stainless pipes on my Fiero, and they look just as you describe.

Aluminized will still rot out from the inside because the moisture from combustion can puddle in various places.

What Is The Factory Pipe Then? Mine Is Stock And Is Still In Great Condition With Some Surface Rust.

Factory is 2" ID iirc

I meant type Josh....lol

I know it is 2"

GM factory exhausts are all T-409 stainless steel. This is the unpolished stuff that will disscolor and show surface corrosion, although it will NEVER rust through (ok...almost never ).

Compare this to T-304 stainless............that is the shiny, polished stuff that Borla, Corsa etc all make their exhausts out of. It's more $$ (and oddly enough, more COMMON), but looks awesome for years and years......

Oh, and don't be afraid to RUN a cat. They only restrict power slightly (cat vs test pipe at your power level is likely only a 1hp loss), and they will help clean up the sound a little (almost like a 2nd resonator).

I had a FULL 2.5" exhaust on my 3100 and it fucking MOVED. You have to remember the stock log manifolds dont flow good, so a 2.5" DP and exhaust will help this.

If you do run a cat, run a high flow cat. and yes I highly suggest using 304 stainless.
