Coilovers on a DD.

that what you just said is a toasted suspension...

But alot that have them have the RSTB for extra support. I've seen cutouts of the strut tower sheet metal for 1st gen vs. 2nd gen and the rstb would help substantially for 1st gens, I was just wondering.

Stock we have coil over style suspension up front, the metal is no thicker up there than it is in the back.

Structurally speaking I personally see NO reason that the rear of these cars could not handle coil overs. I have heard all the arguments disagreeing with me and honestly I still think its all BS. People were putting coil overs on these cars long before AWEB brought us the RSTB, and I have never heard of the unibody fatiguing due to it.

Yeah.. I don't know what I'm going to do yet. Tax returns are going to help me decide... Car's about to roll over 200k and who knows how long it's going to be before it's not my DD anymore. I try not to be rough on it, but I love cornering fast. Would that decide anything in how long monoleaf/vs c.o. would last?

Just start and use what you can later use on CO's. Get struts, front and rear sway bars, and front and rear stb's and you will be set until you can afford co's. You will be amazed how much better it will be. As for the monoleaf, try to find a used one? I think they are the same from the 4 doors as well.

Yeah I figured the monoleaf would be the same pretty much all-around on the W's. Been weighing my options, really. I was just going to put new struts on there, but the more I thought about it... the more I liked the RSTB's performance on there.. makes me want to do more... but have to think economical, and what needs to be done the worst... For the life of me, I can't get the front and back end of this damn car to sit even.

I'm wondering if the 150lb speaker box I have in the trunk helped to finish off my rears... can't imagine two and a half years of bouncing down gravel roads empty could have helped it much either.

I like the idea of COs but I just don't think its feasable at this point... and my mechanic would likely want to shoot me for asking him to undertake this project. I'll get new mountings, try out some KYBs... find some damn monoleaf isolator pads... NOBODY here in town seems to know what those bastards are. I finally chase them down with them, they don't even have a price.. tell me theyll get a quote and never call me back. It's getting rediculous.

Can you order from napa online?

Also, THANKYOU Q-Ball! I've been wondering how much of the investment i put toward handling can be used for the CO conversion as well...

...Damn, it would be so nice if I could upgrade something to upgrade it, not because its broken and needs fixed! :willynilly:
