EviLette
/sigh This is getting rediculous. I might as well just rip the 3.1 out while I'm at it. >.< Seriously though.. I put motor mounts in my car... not a tranny mount, hrm... a couple of weeks ago? For about two days, I had absolutely NO clunking, then I had it start again, although it has a different tone, different characteristics, and in a different place. Also, at the KC meet-n-greet we noticed that my 3.1 is sitting cockeyed (as in, its hanging lower on one side than the other.) I didn't see this until they pointed it out. Shame on me. Anyhow, the decision was a tranny mount IIRC. Pretty sure its on the driver side, and theoretically since its a mount it will be at the BOTTOM of the engine-type area. (Yes I'm being somewhat silly this morning.) Anyhow, motor mounts, after evaluating the job, ended up being something I wanted to have my mechanic do. Is it going to be the same for the tranny mount, or is this maybe something I can do on my own?
19Cutlass94
The tranny mount is a million times easier to do than the motor mount. Same basic principles apply to changing the tranny mount that apply to the motor mount.
ManicMechanic
Block of wood on a jack under the tranny pan, unbolt mount, raise jack, slip mount out, put new in, install is reverse of removal.
AWeb80
IDK If I Would Jack On The Trans Pan. It S Pretty Thin.
ManicMechanic
That's why I use a small sheet of plywood...Never had a dented trans pan from that.
