back in the fall i had looked up all i needed for my 5 speed and made a list. since then we've been seeing everywhere that the HM282 clutch fork is no longer available, and no longer comes up in searches in the parts store computers.

I just cleaned my desk and found that list and looked up the # on advance auto's website. it came up as AVAILABLE!

Pioneer Products # CF136 and it is $58.99

I'm going to order one and see what happens.

Damnit! :( If only we had a GM part number, we could check VPI..

I do have 1 number and VPI shows 3 left (at $277.10 a piece ).. but I think it's for the 284. Does the 284 even use a fork-setup like some of the 282s do?

So what is the problem? Do you have an old one or is it missing altogether? My old one was bad because of the needle bearings ate the crap out of it, so I machined it down and put 6 (3 on each side) sealed ball bearings and it works awesome.

282's didn't have clutch forks in '92. Well, maybe, but it would be the style for the external slave setup. Thanks for checkin though.

Pat, I found this:

http://catalog.oehq.com/item.wws?sku=14092076&itempk=395300

BUT, I have that part number (14092076) listed as a "Reverse shift shaft" from an '88 GM Muncie-Getrag service manual. I almost just ordered 2 but I noticed that first. They're also listed in VPI as "Rail Shift" for ~$40 w/ 10 left in stock.

Milo, what did you use for ball bearings?

That was for 1988-89 282...1990 282 has a number of 8672427 which I couldn't find anything.

VPI: 23047092 SHAFT CLU FORK Qty: 198 $148.58

Can you confirm this is for a W-body? Or does it just give a general listing for the trans? I couldn't find that part number anywhere else but on Vintage Parts (didn't come up in search on GMPD, though I didn't go into the catalogue). Zilch on 8672427 anywhere period.

I did find this on ebay, but it appears to be for an Isuzu trans, or at least definitely one of the external-clutch-arm Getrags.

This was straight out of the GM parts book for W bodies. The diagram showed the fork and everything.

GMPD is where I copied what I had from my first post.

Don't remember the ID, but the OD was the OD of the stock needle pieces of scheize, got a whole bunch from ebay and a friend of mine turned the fork down to the size.
