AWeb80
B&M Super Cooler http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=BMM%2D70255&N=700+400004+4294924500+4294888847+4294906626+115&autoview=sku was pretty easy once I figured where to run the hose. The kit came w/ a brass fitting that i put in place of the stock pipe on the bottom of the rad. I then ran the hose from the rad to the cooler and then from the cooler back the the metal pipe leading back to the trans. **If you install one, you will need ~1 qt of fluid to take of the extra space. So don't add a cooler and forget to add more fluid***

GutlessSupreme
Does that use those zip tie thingys that go through the A/C condenser to secure the top? Take those out ASAP, those will wear holes straight through your fucking heat exchange pipes and ruin the condenser.

meltboy1
ya I was kinda wondering how that thing was mounted... lol
AWeb80
I"m confused.....I used the zip tie things through the rad. what else was I supposed to do?
Pontiac6KSTEAWD
Looks good, only going to make 2 recomendations.. Turn the unit 90 degree so the lines go out the side, and not thru the top.. Secondly, take out those zip tie things. On the side of your condensor you will see a couple hole in the bracket area, use those for a nut and bolt setup so that it doesnt cause vibartion holes in your radiator, and condensor. Then on the other side of the cooler, take one of those metal strap things (forget the name at the moment) and go down the left side. With one attached to the upper core support, and the other attached to the lower core support.
EviLette
Showoff! J/k man, nice job. Definitely more of a mechanical engineer than I am. Can't wait to see it in person.
Night Fury
I've been meaning to put one on the Ciera, but now that I am selling, Why bother? I WILL put one on the CS though, especially if I get mine rebuilt.
Pontiac6KSTEAWD
The Ciera FM tranny coolers work great, if you get the one from the factory. Thats what I put on my 6000...
Crazy K
The Ciera FM tranny coolers... what??? info/link/pics? I installed a basic aftermarket cooler on the 95 ciera I gave my parents. I released the top mounts that hold the radiator and tilted it forward, and mounted the cooler through the condensor only. thats is what you should have done AWEB. on all the W's I have added one on, I used factory aux coolers, even on the 95 sedan which required me to modify one of the brackets to make it fit, in addition to modifying the original lines. Pontiac6KSTEAWD
Uhm, I dont have any pics or links. I got mine off a Ciera Wagon to put on my 6000 STE AWD, pulled the hoses off back to where they were metal at the tranny and radiator, took the gromet where the lines went thru the side core support. Was a really easy install too. There is this little tab in front of the condensor, that the lower part mounts too. and then 2 10MM self tapping screws over on the side. It measures about 1 foot by 1 foot. I can try to get pics of mine in a couple days. Wife has car with her right now, and I leave for a trip to Kentucky tomorow. AWeb80
I'm still confused as to what is the condenser and rad...I thought the rad was the only thing there.....what is the condenser? I feel like a noob
digitaloutsider
The A/C condenser. The big rad for the A/C system.

I feel like a noob The condenser is a radiator-like device mounted in front of the radiator. It cools and condenses the freon into a liquid state to be sent to the evaporator and expansion orifice. Crazy K
I feel like a noob LOL!!!!!! yeah. both the radiator and condenser are heat exchangers. in most any vehicle that is ac equipped, the ac condenser and radiator are sandwiched against each other. In our cars the ac condenser is right in front of the radiator.

AWeb80
OK, I put the ties through both the rad and condenser.....what is wrong w/ that?
Crazy K
OK, I put the ties through both the rad and condenser.....what is wrong w/ that? radiator and condenser are able to move separately, enough so that with time the ties may damage the radiator or condenser. AWeb80
ok, that makes sense....so, how should I mount it then?

I feel like a noob THANK YOU!! I got a brand new rad when what I really needed was a condenser. Glad I am not the only one. And yes, I now know the difference. xtremerevolution
well, considering I was driving in 45* degree weather....i never got hot....lol but dang does it heat up fast.....just starting it and letting it idle, i could feel heat in less than a min Yeah I noticed the same thing with mine; it got hot real fast. I would only imagine that on a tranny that heats up that quickly, a transmission cooler would do definitely something to extend the life. I noticed firmer and quicker shifts with my transmission after I put that cooler in, and I haven't had a single problem with it in there yet.
