jmoore4294
I got off work tonight, and went out to start my car. I cranked it, and I cranked it it would turn over, but it wouldn't stay running. If it did stay running, it would be in the 500 rpms and run like shit. Vacuum leak was my initial guess, and from a little maglite flash light, I didn't see any lines disconnected. So I sat and tried and tried and tried, and eventually after about 30 min, while it was doing one of it's IDLE AT 500 RPM, it was like someone flipped a switch and it was idling and running just fine. Any idea what could have happened? Thanks.
Crazy K
check engine light on?
jmoore4294
Nope. I just went back out and started it twice with no problems. I got to work just fine, then it sat for 7 hours, then it wouldn't stay running, then it just suddenly ran fine.
CSI_MuNkY
Maybe try pulling the IAC and cleaning it. I've had to do that a couple times, I just used brake cleaner. Jamie
jmoore4294
I used some throttle body cleaner on it about....3 months ago? And I cleaned the MAF 2 weeks ago. Plugs and wires are new. Fuel filter is maybe a year old. Air filter is new. New battery. Like I said as far as I could see, there were no disconnected vacuum hoses. However it did sound like I had a vacuum leak whenever the engine would die out, it sounded like air escaping from down by the transmission. But the 4T60-E isn't vacuum controlled. Unless there is something I am missing?
ManicMechanic
Yes, the 4T60E does have a vacuum modulator, but normally they don't cause those symptoms, they usually just shift hard with a little roughness in the idle.
