drop a quart of tranny fluid in it and let it idle for about 10 mins then change the oil that should break it all loose and come out with the oil

just a seggestion anyone else want to conferm this?

i don't know it anyone would suggest that?

I don't know if that would work.... I know I wouldn't want a quart of tranny fluid in my engine oil though... Does that actually work and not harm the engine?

yea it does the detergent in tranny fluid breaks the gunk up

you can go with half a quart instead

the only worry you have is if you drive it for a long distance or let it run to long it will harden seals if exposed to long!!

PaPaPooh is corrrect; you can run tranny fluid (15 minutes at most) to clean out the gunk inside the motor.

I've personally done this myself and turn out great; tricks of a quick-lube shop.

Since tranny fluid is a hydrolic detergent, it'll remove basically all build up inside.

But, if you feel uncomfortable running foreign matter in your engine, I completely understand.

For best results, run the flush when the engine is at running tempreture.

If you used a solvent flush, make sure to flush a quart of new oil to get the solvent out.

Best of luck, let us know how much falls out!

run an engine flush for 5 minutes, drain it, put the plug back in, put in 3 quarts of kerocine and just let it sit for 10 minutes, dont start it just let it sit in there, drain it, flush it thru with 1 quart clean oil, drainplug back in, change the filter and put oil in.

i do oilchanges for an have seen al kinds of buildup, that works 100% of the time.

The only risk with pouring flushing liquids into the crankcase and running the engine is that the sludge that's removed from the internal surfaces ends up down in the crankcase and can plug up the oil pump pickup screen.

Thats why nothing but motor oil should go into a motor. They make motor oil not motor kerosene

on my base there is an auto hobby shop with an engine flush machine. i had crap in my motor after i came back from my deployment. got it flushed for $60. all they do for that is pump heated clean oil through the motor twice and then flush it out. it cleaned up my motor a lot. i'm sure there are other shops that do the same sort of thing.

Tranny fluid is simply detergent oil. A TON of people on ChevyTalk do it. They just put a quart in a day or two before they change they're oil everytime. Works like a charm. I'm gonna tell you about another odd thing to do. When you are storing an engine for a long time, start it up, and begin to pour tranny fluid into the intake (works best on carb engines) slowly at first then faster until the engine stumbles, then shut it down. It coats all the surfaces and keeps everything lubed until your ready for use.

a friend of mine's dad did that but he put it in the tank and drove it 4 hrs out of town it was a carberated car he said it ran with no stumbles after that

kerosene (diesel fuel) trick is an old school Trick with the old cars use to pull the coil wires so it wouldnt start then Turn the car over for about 15 sec, 2-3 times in a Row to get presure up and then let it sit then Drain Fill with 4 QT of genaric Oil say Holiday brand....then Run for couple mins then drain and add new filter and new oil of your choice....

worked on the old school cars why would it now work on the newer ones...

personally I would just Go get SeaFoam additive and add that to the Gas and get a second can for the oil....I run Seafoam about every 1000 miles in my gas and works great....you will see a Gas mileage increase..

if this is your first time using Seafoam run two tank fulls in your car...then one every 1000-1500 miles....

works 50-100% better then the other additives...
